USDC designer Samantha Noor recently contributed to the pilot of an Alumni Peer Navigator (APN) program with partners at Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSAgov), HHS that connected new mothers with social-emotional support, federal benefits programs, and community resources. As a result of their early work, 15 APNs helped over 200 families access benefits and services at six HRSA Healthy Start sites across the country. Our team collaborated with the Federal Customer Experience team at the Office of Management and Budget, partners at the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSAgov), HHS, and six community-based organizations in HRSA's Healthy Start program to pilot a new service for moms: the Alumni Peer Navigator (APN). Initially focusing on simplifying benefits enrollment for new families, the pilot revealed two additional benefits - creating flexible career pathways for Healthy Start program graduates and building capacity for community health workers. Our human-centered design research approach was key in implementing this inclusive and impactful service. What an incredible day last week celebrating the graduation of our first cohort of USDC Fellows! 🎉 We were thrilled to be joined by GSA Administrator Robin Carnahan and U.S. Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Deputy Chief of Staff Margot Conrad who both spoke about the USDC's importance in recruiting early-career technologists to public service and incubating their careers to meet the challenges of today and those still to come. With a 97% two-year retention rate and 95% of Fellows planning to stay in civil service roles across government — we are empowering the next generation of civic technologists. The ceremony also featured Fellow speakers Kira Tebbe, Jamila Crawford, Jonathan Hart, and Kathleen Carroll, as well as a demo by Anjenica "Nikki" Ramos of her work supporting U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services. We can't wait to see what our Fellows will do in the future! https://lnkd.in/ey3tY5FS

🎓 Today, we celebrated a major milestone as our inaugural cohort of USDC Fellows took to the graduation stage! Over the last two years, they supported 14 federal agencies as software engineers, product managers, designers, data scientists, and cybersecurity experts. We're proud to announce that we had a 97% two-year retention rate and that 95% of our graduates are planning to continue their public service as career federal employees at 15 different agencies. 📣: “What was once just an idea is now a rapidly-scaling and impactful program serving agencies government-wide,” said GSA Administrator Robin Carnahan. “Together, this USDC cohort has built 21st century digital infrastructure that will enable the government to deliver more effectively for millions of Americans.” Read more in today's GSA press release: https://lnkd.in/ey3tY5FS
