As an academic medical center, University Health KC (UH) is proud to collaborate with local high schools and expose students to exciting career opportunities in healthcare. The UH Pharmacy Team recently partnered with Ruskin High School (Hickman Mills C-1 School District) to work with Anatomy and Physiology students on projects such as pharmacy careers.  When asked about the experience, Director of Ambulatory Pharmacy Kristi Stice said, “I was so impressed by the quality of the students’ work and the effort they put into their projects. “These young people showed such professionalism presenting on challenging topics. It was such a pleasure to work with them.”  

Today is National Teacher Appreciation Day. Here at University Health, we are proud to be an academic medical center. We value our partnerships with University of Missouri-Kansas City schools of Medicine, Nursing & Health Studies, Pharmacy and Dentistry. At University Health, patient care is 24/7. And our overnight staff makes certain that care remains seamless. And today, UH’s very own Mary Jane Dexter, APRN is celebrating her birthday with fellow #leaplings including – get this - HER GRANDSON! How special is that? Mary Jane says every birthday is special, but on leap year, grandma and grandson make it an even bigger celebration. 

This is what Kansas City is all about. We are thankful for the community’s outpouring of support to our amazing frontline staff. Their fast response to Wednesday’s tragic event undoubtedly saved lives.
