  • John Kirby, a proud U.S. Army veteran, knows firsthand the challenges many veterans face after service. UWTC's Mission United program, which serves veterans, active-duty military and their families, was there for John during a tough time in his life. Our team worked closely with him to address all his needs, from transportation to access to healthy food. John's journey with Mission United has come full circle. He now volunteers to help veterans like himself. He often refers them to Mission United, ensuring they receive the same level of care and support he did. • We need your help to Beat the Heat! Only a month into summer and we have more than 140 residents on our waitlist needing a portable A/C unit. We need donations to get these units into the hands of those waiting for assistance. Our most vulnerable neighbors suffer in the Texas heat, and while it’s a bit cooler right now, we will soon see 100-degree temperatures return to Tarrant County. Join us as we prevent serious heat-related illnesses in our older adults, people with disabilities and veterans. We can’t do this without you! • Living paycheck to paycheck means carefully planning every dollar to cover bills. But when something unexpected happens, like your car breaking down, you must decide whether to spend money you don't have to fix it or find another way to get to work. It's a tricky balancing act many face daily. UWTC is dedicated to helping ALICE families—those who are Asset Limited, Income Constrained and Employed. These hardworking families struggle to make ends meet and are often just one bad day away from everything falling apart. With your support, we can be there for them when they need it most. Together, we can change the course of these families' lives and create a community where everyone has the resources necessary not just to get by but to thrive. GET UNITED in our mission to support ALICE families and build a better future for everyone. Get involved at GetUnitedTarrant.org. #ALICE #GetUnited #GetUnitedForALICE #UWTarrant United For ALICE

When Deanna Titzler joined UWTC two years ago, she immediately jumped into the role as brand ambassador. As our chief communications and marketing officer, she crafts messages of hope and change using her talent for storytelling and vibrant spirit. In her role, Deanna leads the Communications and Marketing team, using creative strategies to highlight UWTC's impactful work. Her biggest passion lies in engaging with people about UWTC's programs and witnessing their surprise when they discover how much direct service programming we provide. Deanna's personal values are deeply intertwined with UWTC's mission and values. "Being part of a team that truly cares about making a difference in the community makes the hard work worth it," she said. Although Deanna hails from sunny San Diego, California, she has called Tarrant County home for more than half her life. She is a loud and proud Baylor Bear, having earned her Bachelor of Business Administration at Baylor University and her Master of Arts in communication and leadership studies at Gonzaga University. When Deanna is not in the office, she is likely exploring a new destination. Her love for travel is not just about sightseeing, but also about learning the history and culture of the places she visits, and of course, tasting the local cuisine. And here's a fun tidbit: Deanna spent three years living in India, where she volunteered teaching English as a second language to children living in destitute conditions with limited access to education. This life-changing experience inspired her to leave the corporate world and dive into the fulfilling journey of the nonprofit sector. Get a chance to work alongside Deanna and her team, making a difference in our community! UWTC has several positions open.
