Child casualties in the West Bank have skyrocketed in the past nine months. On average, one Palestinian child was killed in the West Bank, including East Jerusalem, every two days since October 2023. Children report being scared to walk around their neighbourhoods or to travel to school. UNICEF renews its call for parties to immediately end and prevent further grave violations against children, including the killing and maiming of children. More details: https://uni.cf/4d83TvN

West Bank, including East Jerusalem,
have been exposed to horrific violence.
The situation has deteriorated significantly,
coinciding with the escalation of hostilities inside Gaza. We are seeing frequent allegations of Palestinian children being detained on their way home from school, or shot while walking on the streets. The violence needs to stop now. - Catherine Russell, UNICEF Executive Director"

10 tips to raise a healthy eater. Share with someone who might find this helpful! 1️⃣👀 Your little ones watch everything you do – including at mealtime. Be a good role model by choosing healthy options for yourself, and engaging in fun physical activity like after-dinner walks or dancing! 2️⃣👪 Include children in food shopping, preparation and looking up different food groups together. They will enjoy being part of creating delicious and healthy meals for the family. 3️⃣🤔 Help children understand whether they are physically or emotionally hungry. This will help them get in tune with their body’s needs. 4️⃣❌🏆 Stay away from using food as a reward or punishment. Using food in this way can cause children to form an unhealthy relationship with food. Try to use non-food rewards for good behaviour such as a fun family activity. 5️⃣⚖️ Making certain foods like sweets off limits can actually make your child want them even more. Instead of saying no to unhealthy foods and beverages, limit the portion size and create expectations about consuming them infrequently (i.e. not every day). 6️⃣💬 Talk to your children about why certain foods are better choices than others. For example if your child wants something sweet, explain why food with natural sugars like a piece of fruit is a better choice over a processed food like a sweet cereal with added sugar. 7️⃣ Let go of “clean your plate!” Although you might think this could help your child get the nutrients needed from food, these behaviours can lead to disliking foods and having negative associations with mealtime. 8️⃣🍽️🎨 Arranging fruits and vegetables in fun and colourful shapes can also help them look appealing on the plate. It’s important to remember that it can take many tries for children to try and enjoy new foods – don’t give up! 9️⃣🤏 Make portion control a priority. Oversized portions can lead to weight gain, so it is important to teach your children about how much food they should have on their plate. 1️⃣0️⃣🥣 Start the day with a healthy breakfast. Mornings can be a rush for many families, but starting the day with a balanced meal helps your child get important nutrients for their growth and development.
