A solid foundation is the cornerstone of any successful construction project. In order to create a sustainable base for your build, you have to analyze the exact qualities and engineering parameters of the soil at your intended site. Understanding the elements and conditions present at your site will help to chart the course for the rest of the project. So, what is soil testing? Soil testing is when a geotechnical engineer visits your site to acquire and test soil samples. Tests will reveal the characteristics, nature, and reactivity of soil. Soil reactivity accounts for changes in ground composition under varying conditions. If the soil at your site swells in wet conditions and shrinks when the ground is dry, the structural engineer will need that information to effectively design the foundation, footings, and slabs of the build. Soil testing will also reveal the density, compaction, sand content, and any contaminants present at the site. Learn more about what services we offer: https://lnkd.in/dxqKW-4

Project Highlight Located at Lancaster Airport Authority, Transteck, Inc., a commercial truck dealership, began their multiyear development plan to build several new hangars, one of which will house Transteck’s Aviation Department. Engaged by Morgan-Keller Construction for this new 15,426 square foot pre-engineered steel building, Triad’s Materials Testing & Inspection team provided storm water basin and building pad soils testing; concrete testing for footings, slabs and exterior concrete; masonry foundation walls testing; structural steel inspections; and asphalt compaction testing. Onsite discovery of large deep pockets of topsoil that needed to be removed and replaced with suitable fil, old foundations from the previous hangar, and an underground cistern draining into an onsite concrete well casing situated over a sinkhole cavity into the native bedrock. All issues were able to be remediated via recommendations from Triad. Always proud of the industry partnerships that are created, one successful project at a time! #TriadProject #construction #economicdevelopment Lancaster Airport: https://lnkd.in/gpgbjfqe Transteck, Inc.: https://www.transteck.com/ Morgan Keller: https://lnkd.in/efPTawb
