Last week, members of the Toniic community were invited to participate in Project Drawdown's inaugural deep dive event on "How Can We Halt & Reverse Deforestation in this Decade." The program, split into three insightful sessions, addressed critical aspects of #forestconservation and climate action; the team and partners from Forests, People, Climate (FPC) shared key drivers and impactful actions to accelerate forest protection through #philanthropic and impact investment opportunities. They also presented FPC’s Supply Chains strategy to transform food, feed, fiber, and fuel systems to combat forest loss and drive progress towards 2030 goals. Some key takeaways include: 🤝 Effective forest protection requires collaboration across policy, business, philanthropy, and research, as it is one of the most impactful climate solutions available. ✅ #Carboncredits can support forest protection but must adhere to high environmental and social standards to be effective. 🔬 Robust scientific research and resources are essential for driving meaningful #policy innovation and implementation. 🔍 A reevaluation of the Food, Feed, Fiber, and Fuel commodity supply chains is needed to shift them from contributors to the climate crisis to drivers of positive impact, creating significant opportunities for climate action and coalition-building. Together, we can harness the power of collective action and innovative strategies to safeguard our forests and secure a sustainable future.
