This week, I had the privilege of attending The Investment Diversity Exchange (TIDE) conference in Dana Point. Here are some notes from some of the Day 1 panelist speakers. Throughout the two-day event, I am grateful to have met many extraordinary industry leaders with whom I hope to remain connected. In addition to attending the conference on the first day, I participated in the TIDE Future Leaders Program on the second day! Definitely a legendary event. Thank you to Kevin Dinh for giving me the opportunity to attend, and thank you to Kim Au and Grace Reyes for making this event happen!

This week I was given the opportunity to attend TIDE SPARK and the The Investment Diversity Exchange (TIDE) future leaders event as part of the first cohort of Future Leaders. I am very grateful for this opportunity and learned from panelist and peers from various lines of business within asset management and other industries. As TIDE Future Leaders, we did workshops including subjects such as, building your personal brand, public markets, understanding private equity, and many more. One of my favorite sessions was “Breaking down the world of financial services” with Dale Favors, where he went in-depth about the financial services industry. He said “Be passionate about your chase”, this was the motivation I needed to continue working towards what makes my passionate and how works into my career. Thank you to Fernanda Rice, Avani Bhansali, Grace Reyes, and the many other people that make this experience possible.

On a totally different level 🏵️ I’ve know Grace Reyes for over a decade and can say with confidence that she’s on a stratosphere all to herself. Her relationship capital is immeasurable. She’s taken her Rolodex and created something so special - like an army. Year in and year out we get together for boot camp with a big party at the end of a long, rigorous day of intensive training. Thanks Grace (and the rest of the TIDE Team) for producing events that are so impactful to the investment community. #TIDE #Institutional #Investment #Conference #Diversity #Equity #Inclusion #Impact p.s. Next year, can you pick a color that I already have a lot of in my closet? Like black? Knowing you it’s going to be something like tangerine or watermelon. 😉

☄ "Opportunity is created, talent is not." This insightful statement by Jessica Holsey, a panelist on DEI Initiatives at the TIDE conference, resonated deeply with me. As a Finance student from a non-target school, this summer has been a challenging journey of expanding my network and applying for internships. Despite the setbacks, I remained determined. When I discovered the TIDE conference, a platform for connecting finance industry professionals, I took a chance and sent a hopeful email to Kim Au, requesting to be placed on the waitlist for the Future Leaders Program. Weeks later, I received the email I had been waiting for—there was an opening. 🎉 Attending the The Investment Diversity Exchange (TIDE) conference was "THAT" opportunity I needed to excel. Here are three key takeaways that I believe are crucial for anyone in the finance industry: 🥇 DEI Efforts: DEI is vital for fostering diverse perspectives and backgrounds, enabling organizations to operate at their best. Advocacy for DEI initiatives can lead to more innovative and effective solutions in finance. 🌍 🥈 AI in Healthcare: As highlighted by Darshana Zaveri and Shubhra Jain, MD, MBA, the intersection of AI and healthcare is a game-changer. Shubhra emphasized that the biggest challenge is making sense of data. We need to aggregate, organize, and understand this data to unlock its potential. Nate Harrington added that the three D's in healthcare—drugs, devices, and data—are crucial. Investing in data portability and management can streamline business processes, improve patient outcomes, and drive financial performance. 📊💡 🥉 Investment Strategies: Investment firms can create value by acquiring businesses, restructuring teams, or developing new products. Understanding these strategies can provide a competitive edge in the finance world. 💼 I am immensely grateful to Craig Huie, CFA, CAIA and UC Investments for bringing this opportunity to my attention. Special thanks to Kim Au and Grace Reyes for providing a platform for students like myself to connect with influential LPs and GPs and gain insights into the current market and private equity opportunities. 🙏 Meeting industry leaders from JPMorganChase, BlackRock, and Morgan Stanley was an incredible experience. I look forward to seeing how much better TIDE will be next year! If you attended TIDE or have insights on any of these topics, I’d love to connect and hear your thoughts! #Finance #Networking #DEI #AI #InvestmentStrategies

“Summer camp for investors.” 🏖️ “I went to a party and there was a meaningful conference there too.” Those were things overheard at day two of The Investment Diversity Exchange (TIDE) SPARK conference. If you missed it, there’s always next year. Grace Reyes curates the best investment conference on the globe! She’s pretty gangster getting the attendees to come in coordinated colors. (Again, I chose Boracay blue for Day 2). The event was sold out…it will sell out every year. Don’t let the bounce house fool ya. #TIDE #investment #investor #conference #LP #GP #diversity #equity #inclusion
