Today we celebrate Independence Day by recognizing the many incredible men and women over the years who sacrificed so much so that we can experience the freedoms of living in this country. Among the long list includes Dale Buck, a 96-year-old World War II veteran and resident of The Springs at Wilsonville in Oregon, who served three years in the Coast Guard. (Watch his Dream Flight through the link in the first comment.) Dale was honored a few months ago with a trip in a biplane courtesy of Dream Flights. It is an honor to serve Dale and many other veterans who risked their lives to serve our country. Wishing all residents, their families, team members, and business partners a very special holiday full of family, celebration, and gratitude. #independenceday #veterans #seniorliving

It all started with our founder's promise to his grandmother not to move her into "an old folks' home." To fulfill that promise, when he grew up, he built a warm and welcoming community in Salem, Oregon, which would feel like home to her and be staffed with loving people who felt like family. This was the beginning of what would become The Springs Living. For nearly 30 years, that promise has expanded to the thousands of older adults we have served across the Northwest. That story is told through a book launching today, "A Culture of Promise: The True Story of One Small Company's Quest to Transform the Senior Living Industry." Watch the reenactment of that boy's promise in the first comment. #acultureofpromise #seniorliving #booklaunch #thepromise #ourstory

We recently held our annual Leadership Conference with our Home Office team and leaders of our 20 communities to provide a space for learning, collaborating, and engaging in leadership development workshops. The attendees told us they left inspired to go back to their communities with a renewed sense of purpose and dedication to nurture our enrichment culture, which is at the heart of providing quality services to residents across all of our communities. #acultureofpromise #LC24 #teamsprings #seniorliving

What does it mean to build a culture of promise? Host Rachel Hill talks with The Springs Living, LLC CEO, Fee Stubblefield about Building a Culture of Promise in Senior Living! In senior living communities, a culture of promise isn't just a goal—it's a necessity. It's about creating an environment where trust, respect, and care are paramount. Here's why it matters: 1️⃣ Trust &Security: Residents feel secure knowing their needs and concerns are always prioritized. This trust builds a strong sense of community. 2️⃣ Quality of Life: When promises are kept, whether big or small, it directly impacts the quality of life. 3️⃣ Empowerment: A culture of promise empowers both residents and staff. It encourages accountability and inspires everyone to contribute positively to the community. 4️⃣ Reputation: Consistently keeping promises enhances the reputation of the your Community , attracting more families who seek the best for their loved ones. But don't mistake this idea of promise as perfection. It is inevitable, you will fail but that's okay. It's just another opportunity to get it right! The Lillian Award, named for Founder & CEO Fee Stubblefield's grandma who inspired him to start The Springs Living, recognizes an exceptional story of spreading kindness that serves as an example to all. This year's recipient, Anabel Schneider, a housekeeper turned concierge at The Springs at Happy Valley in Oregon, stands out for her exceptional kindness and dedication. She connected with a resident whose apartment she cleaned and continued to check on them even after they moved to assisted living. When she became concierge, she transitioned slowly so her housekeeping co-workers weren’t overburdened. Her personal acts of kindness, such as sewing a resident’s coat pocket to prevent him from losing his keys or baking cookies for a resident’s memorial, have earned her praise from residents and deepened community bonds. The concept of having a big heart describes most of the staff at The Springs Living, but Anabel stands out as having one of the biggest hearts of all. Congratulations, and well done! #lillianaward #kindness #teamsprings #award #seniorliving #recognition

The Springs Living empowers employees to do One Thing, the right thing, for quality -- the quality of relationships, quality of work, and quality of you. The stories of doing this well are abundant across all of our communities, so when we asked residents and their families to submit nominations for the One Thing Award, we shouldn't have been surprised when we received more than 145 nominations. After a thorough process, we presented residents and families with the finalists' stories to vote on, resulting in a tie. Alison Cook, memory care administrator at The Springs at Greer Gardens in Eugene, Oregon, is known for her unparalleled loyalty, attitude, and attention to detail to the residents. When almost no one else will advocate for residents, including themselves, she not only remembers what each resident’s detailed needs are but ensures these needs are addressed in a timely fashion. She has proven time and time again that she is willing to work tirelessly long hours, listen to and respond to problems, and ensure that the smallest of details are completed with an impressive amount of attention. A family member wrote of how the decision to move their loved one into memory care was made easier knowing Alison was there. Leland Gustafson, plant operations director at The Springs at Bozeman in Montana, is an exceptional manager with no turnover on his team since the opening of this community. He leads by example, as he’s often seen rushing to his next assignment, joking with residents, and expertly finding solutions to problems. Whether he is in the community or not, his team works at full speed and always with smiles on their faces. The team has been praised for going above and beyond, including helping residents troubleshoot technology and cleaning apartments if the housekeepers are out. Leland and his team go above and beyond in providing timely, thorough, and caring experiences every day for all residents. #onething #onethingaward #quality #CX #residentexperience #teamsprings

Congratulations to Sara Nees, staff development coordinator at The Springs at Greer Gardens in Eugene, Oregon, for earning our 2024 Spark Award for driving innovation. Sara’s innovative problem-solving led to creating a four-station onboarding and training studio and an in-house orientation folder, which garnered admiration and adoption by regional executive directors. Additionally, her compassionate initiative in recruiting two new employees through a chance encounter at a dollar store exemplifies her dedication and resourcefulness. #sparkaward #innovation #teamsprings #seniorliving
