Today, the Supreme Court issued 6-3 rulings overturning Chevron deference, longstanding principles established over four decades ago recognizing the value of expertise held within federal agencies. These principles enabled civil servants to bring their deep scientific and technical knowledge to the development of regulations in line with laws passed by Congress to protect the public. Our partners at Humboldt Area Foundation just launched the first-of-its-kind Klamath River Fund! The fund, which launches with over $10 million, will support local efforts to restore the landscape and communities around the Klamath River. We’re proud to support this work bringing Tribal and rural communities together to lead and shape the region’s future. Our Andrea Keller Helsel said, “It’s a new model for how philanthropy can be a partner in the longer-term work of healing nature and communities. From shared leadership models to empowering underrepresented voices to challenging traditional structures, our Performing Arts grantee partners are centering organizational development.
