Celebrating the retirement of one of our most cherished longtime employees! It was wonderful having our founders on site celebrating the retirement of our longtime Director of Contract Management Louanne Marchand who has been a pillar of The Safe Center. Without Louanne the organization would not be where it is today celebrating our 10th anniversary. Drop a 🙌 in the comments to help us celebrate her! This photo includes our two founders (sitting in the front left Sandy Oliva Right Cindy Scott) our current Associate Executive Director and Executive Director (back row left Debbie Lyons and Josh Hanson) with our Director of Contract Management Louanne Marchand (sash) at her retirement party. ____________ If you or someone you know may be impacted by domestic/intimate partner violence, rape/sexual assault, child abuse, or human trafficking call our 24-hour hotline: (516) 542-0404. #childabuseawareness #humantrafficking #domesticviolenceprevention #nassaucounty

A Fourth of July reminder! This vibrant holiday can be a joyful time for celebrations, but it's essential to prioritize your well-being and set healthy boundaries. Navigating social gatherings, especially where alcohol is involved can be challenging. Remember, you have the power to define your limits and protect yourself. By setting healthy boundaries, you're creating a safe space for yourself. Here are a few suggestions: 1. Know your comfort zone: Reflect on what feels right for you and comfortable. Trust your instincts and honor your limits. 2. Surround yourself with support: When attending parties or gatherings, reach out to trusted friends or family members who can join you. Their presence can provide an additional layer of strength and security. 3. Practice self-care: Engaging in positive practices can help you stay grounded and resilient.

LGBTQ young people who are Latino/a, Latiné, Latinx, or Hispanic, referred to as Latinx, face challenges because of their race or ethnicity and their sexual orientation or gender identity. These overlapping identities can make them more vulnerable to negative experiences. However, these identities can also provide strength and pride. Unfortunately, research hasn't explored their experiences in detail. This report uses data from nearly 6,900 Latinx LGBTQ youth, ages 13 to 24, from The Trevor Project’s 2023 National Survey on LGBTQ Youth Mental Health. The study helps us understand the mental health and well-being of Latinx LGBTQ young people, including those who are Mexican, Cuban, and Puerto Rican in the United States. Review the full report at: https://lnkd.in/g8d_3xui @trevorproject ____________ If you or someone you know may be impacted by domestic/intimate partner violence, rape/sexual assault, child abuse, or human trafficking call our 24-hour hotline: (516) 542-0404. #PrideMonth #ProudAndVisible #LGBTQIA #LGBTQMentalHealth
