Celebrating Engineering Week! Meet Paul Brannan, a seasoned professional engineer with over 40 years of experience. He is currently providing his expertise to The Rio’s Group (TRG) as a Project Manager/Professional Engineer in Subsurface Utility Engineering. Paul's journey into engineering began with hands-on experience alongside his older brother, constructing retaining walls and delving into transportation construction projects. Inspired by the intersection of planning, surveying, engineering, and construction, Paul embarked on a career dedicated to building projects that serve the public good. One of Paul's standout projects was managing an emergency oil spill response involving the massive dredging of Mississippi River sand to construct barrier berms and protect wetlands from oil contamination. This impactful endeavor epitomized the vital role engineering plays in safeguarding the environment and local communities. At TRG, Paul's favorite project is the Clouse Water Recycle Center in San Antonio, Texas (featured in photos). Despite the facility's inherent challenges, such as its distinctive aroma, Paul finds fulfillment in the intricacies of Subsurface Utility Engineering. Unraveling voluminous records and identifying hidden pipelines exemplify the puzzle-solving aspect of his work, ensuring smooth project execution and positive community impact. Looking to the future, Paul is excited about the potential of artificial intelligence in SUE engineering. Leveraging AI and 3-dimensional models promises to expedite processes while maintaining accuracy, though Paul emphasizes the indispensable role of Professional Engineers in reviewing and approving these advancements. Join us in celebrating Paul's remarkable contributions to engineering and his dedication to projects that shape our world for the better! Happy Engineering Week! #EngineeringWeek #Innovation #TRGTeam

Happy Engineering Week 2024! Join TRG in celebrating engineers all week long with our spotlight posts. For today's spotlight post, meet our very own Albert Bedia, EIT. One of the brilliant minds behind our projects at TRG! As a Project Manager and Engineer-In-Training, Albert brings passion and curiosity to every endeavor. When Albert was asked why he became an engineer, he shared "I was intrigued by the massive infrastructure and architecture when I moved to the United States from the Philippines. I’m a curious person in general, and I was interested in how skyscrapers, bridges, and roads were planned and came to fruition to what we see now." His inquisitive nature led him to pursue engineering. One of Albert’s favorite projects with TRG is the Orange Line of Project Connect. For this project, TRG has provided extensive Quality Level B SUE and provided the lateral locations of utilities. Looking ahead to the future of engineering, Albert anticipates the integration of advanced technology and innovation in Subsurface Utility Engineering (SUE). "There's so much potential in combining old and new methods to tackle today's demands," he shares. Join us in celebrating Albert and all the remarkable engineers shaping the future! Happy Engineering Week! #EngineeringWeek #Innovation #TRGTeam
