We’re thrilled to partner with City of Atlanta Parks and Recreation to help Ormewood Park, located just east of downtown Atlanta, get its first large urban greenspace! The 5.3-acre property honors the life and legacy of a local farmer and will be accessible from the Atlanta BeltLine’s under-construction Southside Trail. Read more: bit.ly/3zEYMF0.

We’re still celebrating our Working Forest Fund as they have passed the incredible milestone of protecting 1 million acres of forestland across the U.S.! Our Working Forest Fund model allows us to quickly purchase at-risk lands, like working forests, while crafting a creative, permanent solution to ongoing management. Why? Because experts anticipate losing 13 million acres of working forests in the next decade, and these lands are critical to our economies, jobs and way of life. We’re thrilled to be highlighted as The Land Report's 2023 Timberland Deal of the Year for our Deep River Woods project in southwest Washington state! We protected more than 20,500 acres of highly productive timberland in the state’s largest land acquisition in more than a decade with our partners at the Washington State Department of Natural Resources. These forests will be sustainably managed and provide benefits for the surrounding communities for years to come. Yesterday, we helped add almost 600 acres to the Beaverhead-Deerlodge National Forest, Montana’s largest national forest! The area is a popular destination for outdoor enthusiasts and this new acreage opens trail access to Westphal Parks and several backcountry trail loops, all of which will be fully incorporated into National Forest lands. A special thank you to U.S. Senator Jon Tester and U.S. Senator Steve Daines. 📷 Wikimedia Commons #LandSustainsUs, #LWCF, USDA Forest Service

Celebrations are still in order for the major milestone our Working Forest Fund reached — protecting 1 million acres of working forestland across the US. These forestlands help provide our clean water, sustain local economies, provide us with paper goods and products, help mitigate the effects of our changing climate, create quality, U.S.-based jobs and more. Thanks for the shoutout, U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (USFWS)! Learn more about our work in Wyoming:
Conservation triumph in Wyoming! We're thrilled to celebrate the establishment of the Wyoming Toad Conservation Area in Laramie, Wyoming! On June 18, 2024, USFWS, along with partners and stakeholders, gathered to mark this significant milestone and unveil the new sign. The real cherry on top? Releasing captive-bred, endangered Wyoming toads (Anaxyrus baxteri) back into their natural habitat! This wouldn't have been possible without the tireless efforts of our locally led partners, like Dan Schlager, Wyoming State Director of The Conservation Fund, who worked together to acquire these lands for the benefit of both the toads and the local community. A huge thank you to all our partners for their dedication to preserving our natural wonders! Photos of Dan Schlager, a Wyoming toad and the new sign, by Jan Fore/USFWS
