We love a black window, but it’s not the only way to create a contemporary look. White oak is light and neutral, which makes it incredibly versatile in complementing a variety of home styles! https://lnkd.in/gm3yGZ-B Andersen Corporation #sponsored #andersenwindows #moderndesign #whiteoak

The latest issue of Texas Architect is now online! Our “Remote” issue examines what it means to practice architecture at a distance, abroad, and with a global workforce. We hear from four AEC professionals about the benefits and uncertainties of working internationally, examine the impact of the construction industry’s skilled labor shortage, and talk with Rome Prize Fellow César A. Lopez about how growing up on the US–Mexico border has informed his academic work and research. Also in this issue: Contemporary workplaces across the state; the Museum of the Big Bend; retail-based placemaking; an IKEA microhousing prototype; Houston’s Hillcroft neighborhood; house relocation; and more. Did You Know? The Spectacular Adolphus Hotel Was Built With Acme Brick. The legendary co-founder of Anheuser-Busch, Adolphus Busch, began investing in Dallas real estate in the early 1900s, including purchasing a small hotel in the nascent downtown business district — which would later become one of the most iconic hotels in the southwestern US — The Adolphus. A young company called Acme Brick used native soil, composed of clay and shale, combined with state-of-the-art manufacturing techniques to help create a historical masterpiece that continues to serve customers more than 111 years later. https://bit.ly/3XJfbSR #sponsored #dallasarchitecture Brick Industry Association
