Takachar is proud to be a part of the PepsiCo Greenhouse Accelerator APAC. We look forward to working with the mentors from the Pepsico teams to develop and conceptualize a pilot together that has a bold vision to scale regenerative agriculture within Pepsico's ecosystem and outside.

Rice produces 12% of all food sector emissions. Rice cultivation also produces 48% of cropland emissions from methane. Rice straw is a crop waste byproduct and each year across Asia 300 million tonnes of it go up in smoke when burnt after harvest. We, at Takachar, are proud to be working with STRAW INNOVATIONS LTD and Aston University in India and the Philippines to develop and test a new model for rice straw collection for biochar production directly from farmlands that is less energy and capital intensive than baling, while at the same time work with rice mills and integrate into existing supply chains. We are very excited to share that Takachar has been selected as a finalist (top 20 teams) for the XPRIZE Carbon Removal! In preparations for the finals next year, we will now be spending the next few months proving that our solution can do removals at a megatonne scale in the coming years and gigatonne scale by 2050.
