Thanks to our generous donors, we have raised 22% of our goal for Canstruction, but we still have a ways to go until we reach our goal! Can you help us get to our $6,850 target? How did we come up with that amount? With a lot of careful planning, trial and error, we have come up with the design below for this year's competition. It will be constructed using 1,536 cans of food and 324 pantry items. Our food items include salmon, tuna, beans (black, green, and baked), corn, beef jerky, pasta and a variety of seasonings. What's amazing is that 100% of the foods we use to build the structure will go directly to The Capital Area Food Bank in Washington, D.C.! Did you know that in our region alone, nearly half a million men, women, and children of every age, race, and religion live with the difficult realities of food insecurity? One out of every 10 residents in the metropolitan Washington region is food insecure. Nearly ⅓ of them are children. As the autumn breeze sets in, our team is fired up about a sizzling way to make a difference in our community! For the third year in a row, STUDIO39 is participating in #CANstruction, an annual competition organized by AIA|DC where teams design and construct amazing works of art made entirely out of canned goods. Last year we were able to raise $8,000 to help Wipeout Hunger! The category for this year’s competition is household appliances and our theme is Grilling! We have carefully planned and designed our structure and with your help, we can fire up the grill using 1,536 cans of food and 324 pantry items. Just like the perfect barbecue, our community relies on the right mix of ingredients to thrive. Unfortunately not everyone has access to sufficient ingredients for a healthy life.
