Mabel*, single Latinx mother to Hugo*, a 10-year-old boy with autism and type 1 diabetes, was referred to StarVista’s Child and Parent Services (CAPS) program by San Mateo County because of a child abuse incident at school. Since receiving care from CAPS, Mabel says she is feeling significantly calmer and less anxious. She sees herself as much more self confident and assertive with the school staff and special education team in making her son’s educational and social-emotional needs and parent requests known. 📈 Read Mabel's full story in the FY22-23 Annual Report here: https://lnkd.in/gPW4bY2C #SanMateoCounty #Nonprofit #MentalHealth

StarVista's San Mateo County Pride Center empowers the LGBTQ+ community through the collaborations we build and nurture with our clients. We provide a safe space where individuals do not feel ashamed or unwanted; instead, they experience a sense of hope in their lives. We strive to destigmatize mental health, viewing it not as a sign of weakness but as an indication of strength. Last year (FY22-23), the San Mateo County Pride Center doubled its reach from the previous year, reaching over 9,500 individuals across all programs. 🧩 Learn more about our programs: https://lnkd.in/ghXm3Yd #SanMateoCounty #Nonprofit #MentalHealth
