Starlight's President + CEO, Lindsey Rood-Clifford, was named as one of Kansas City Business Journal's 2024 NextGen Leaders! From the article: Rood-Clifford grew up with a love for the arts, participating in theater and music. We're less than a month out from Starry Night at Starlight on July 27! For those not familiar, Starry Night is one of our two annual fundraisers for the year. These 29 All-Stars (pictured below) are working with Starlight to raise funds for our Bob Rohlf Internship Program. And it all culminates in a pre-show party before Shrek The Musical! 🎭 Last week, two of our Blue Star Award-winners went up to New York for a week of rehearsal and master classes in preparation for the 15th Annual Jimmy Awards. (The Jimmy Awards are like the Tony's of High School Theatre.)   We are so proud to say that both Peter Dessert and Mia Cabrera-Davila both were selected amongst the top 20 of their peers and Peter was a top 8 finalist of the night! Wow! Last week was jam-packed for us. In addition to STOMP playing through the weekend, we had SO MUCH going on here at Starlight with Center for Neighborhoods Night, a Historic Venue designation, scholarships, performances, and more—take a look! 🎭 Missouri Arts Council Historic Venue Designation Starlight Theatre has officially been designated a Missouri Historical Theater by the Missouri Arts Council! Thank you to the many individuals and organizations who have worked tirelessly to help us achieve this designation.   🎓 Vincent Legacy Scholarship On Friday, we celebrated the 19th year of our Vincent Legacy Scholarship program—providing funding to aspiring middle school performers in Kansas City. This year the scholarship was awarded to Kamea Richardson, Khamya Witt, Meila Ashman, Shaniya Collins, and Siobhan Davis.   🏘️ Center for Neighborhoods Night On Saturday night, we held our third annual Center for Neighborhoods Night! UMKC's Center for Neighborhoods KC has been an incredible partner for Starlight. Thank you to Dina Newman, LaMonica Upton, MSOD, Jake Wagner and the rest of the team for all you do in KC!   💫 Starlight STARS performing The Sunday night crowd of STOMP got to witness our Starlight STARS perform their Broadway medley on the Spotlight Stage!   🏆 Jimmy Awards Peter Dessert and Mia Cabrera-Davila are the two winners of last month's Blue Star Awards that were sent to the Jimmy Awards in New York! They are there now preparing for June 24th's Jimmy Awards Ceremony and attended the Tony's last night!!   🗑️ STOMP Opening Our first Broadway weekend special STOMP opened on Friday and ran through Sunday. It was a delight to host this show and its talented ensemble! Click the 'STOMP' highlight reel on our IG page to see the IG takeover stories from Saturday! 🤝 Intern Meet & Greet Last Wednesday, our Starry Night All-stars had the chance to meet our summer interns. Their event 'Starry Night at Starlight' raises funds for the Bob Rohlf Internship Program so it was especially memorable for them to meet this summer's interns!!   We love summers at Starlight!

This is super exciting to be a part of the intersection of healthcare and the arts. KC CARE Health Center is looking forward to our partnership with the Starlight!

🔷 Our 2024 Starlight Stars had the chance to meet and perform for Ro and Howard Jacobson this past week—two advocates and donors of the program. We couldn't be more proud of this group and the work they've put in. Come find them performing on the Spotlight Stage this summer before several Broadway shows!
