Today, U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken spoke emphatically in support of the tenets of ##WPS at the #NATO Women, Peace and Security Reception in Washington, DC: "To achieve [NATO's strategic objectives], we have to meaningfully include women at every level. As we know, the evidence shows that when women enjoy greater physical security, when their rights are respected, when societies have higher levels of gender equality, entire countries are more stable. They’re more prosperous; they’re more peaceful. And when women are meaningfully involved in making and keeping the peace, it is more likely to endure. This is not just a women’s issue. It’s a national security issue, an economic issue, and yes, a moral issue as well – including for NATO, which was built on a shared commitment to defend liberty, to defend democracy, to defend the rule of law." At ISOA, we are also committed to supporting the tenets of #WPS through education and engagement, among other approaches. Incorporating WPS into peace-building and conflict recovery efforts leads to more effective, sustainable peace and security initiatives. Interested in learning more? We continued our deep exploration of the challenges in the Indo-Pacific region with yesterday's panel discussion titled The Road to Defense Transformation: The Challenges and Opportunities Facing Taiwan in partnership with Project 2049 Institute. We were grateful to have experts Ian Easton, Grace Price, Randy Schriver, Dan Blumenthal and Rupert Hammond-Chambers share their well-informed insights on the current geopolitical situation, Taiwan's preparedness for an invasion, and what US contractors might be able to do to support our allies and partners in the Indo-Pacific region. Leaders from #ISOA and ISOA member companies recently met with the Defense Science Board’s Task Force on the Industrial Base. The Defense Science Board reports their findings to the Secretary of Defense, the National Security Council, and to the U.S. Congress.   The purpose of this meeting was to provide industry perspectives and concerns in the following areas from ISOA member companies:   ✔ Innovative and emerging technologies for logistics and supply chain management ✔ Pre-positioning of contingency planning stocks ✔ Contractor’s involvement with contingency planning ✔ Key role of U.S. small businesses ✔ A “Whole of Government” environment must be followed for contingency planning ✔ Prohibition on U.S. Defense contracts in Ukraine ✔ DSB focus areas (RDTE) exception from small business NAICS Caps ✔ Flexibility in Buy American Act standard ISOA is pleased to maintain our long-standing relationship with the Defense Science Board with the goal of continuing our support to ISOA member companies and improving contingency, logistical, and sustainment operations for the U.S. Government. #isoa #govcon #stabilityops Howie Lind Roxanne M. Last night, over 200 of you joined us for a black-tie evening at stunning and historic The Watergate Hotel to celebrate extraordinary accomplishments in stability operations. We were honored to be joined by the Ambassador of Ukraine to the United States, Oksana Markarova, who received an ISOA honorary award for her steadfast commitment to the people of Ukraine and gave a meaningful keynote address. She emphasized the need for us to "stay the course" and inspired us with her vision of the future: "Ukraine of today is a brave country. Ukraine of tomorrow is innovative and inspiring and will also be a solution to many global problems."
