With over 1 million residents, St. Louis County is the most populous county in Missouri. St. Louis County is located near the eastern edge of Missouri, surrounded by the city of St. Louis and the Mississippi River to the east, the Missouri River to the north, and the Meramec River to the south. St. Louis County government's headquarters are located in Clayton, Missouri. St. Louis County is not only the most populous but also the most economically diverse county in Missouri. With over 600,000 jobs, St. Louis County is known as the economic engine of the state. St. Louis County is known for being an exceptional place to live, work, and raise a family. St. Louis County is home to more than 70 County-managed parks, three State parks, and a portion of a national fish and wildlife refuge. Education in St. Louis County is provided by 24 school districts, private schools, both a unified public library system and several municipal libraries, and several colleges and universities. St. Louis County government is divided between the executive branch governed by the St. Louis County Executive, and the legislative branch governed by the seven members of the St. Louis County Council. There are around 4,000 employees working for St. Louis County government. The current county executive is Dr. Sam Page, who was inaugurated on April 29, 2019.

    Congratulations to the St. Louis County Library on the grand opening of the Clark Family Branch in Ladue! ���� The rain didn't keep patrons from checking out the brand new 74,000 square foot space. The branch features a wide variety of offerings including, children and teen spaces, a genealogy center, a small business resource center, an event space, and so much more. You'll want to spend all day circulating through the new options. Better book it over there to see it for yourself!

    ⭐EMPLOYEE SPOTLIGHT⭐ Amy Ellis is the Division Manager for the Office of Community Development in our Human Services Department. Amy has worked for Saint Louis County for 19 years. She will celebrate two decades with us in October! As Division Manager, Amy oversees several federally funded programs for the purpose of coordinating affordable housing and community development activities. "Besides working with a great group of people, it is very rewarding to know that our programs assist some of the County’s most vulnerable residents to find affordable housing, stay in their homes as they age, improve the communities they live in, and provide much needed supportive services," said Amy. Thank you, Amy, for your years of service to Saint Louis County!

    ☀️ Our cooling shelter is now open! The shelter, a partnership between St. Louis County and The Salvation Army - Family Haven, is now open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. The shelter is located at The Salvation Army - Family Haven at 10740 Page Ave, St. Louis, MO, 63132. The shelter also provides hot meals, laundry facilities and case management services. Please call United Way 211 to access the Cooling Shelter or contact The Salvation Army Family Haven at 314-423-7770 for additional information.     🌈 This Pride Month we’re checking out businesses and organizations supporting the LGBTQIA+ community, including Prioritized Pastries in Maplewood! Chef/Owner Alex McDonnell is making “Pastries For All” in her bakery on Sutton Boulevard. The shop serves vegan and gluten free goodies, including some favorites like rainbow layer cake, cookies, and cream pies.

    ⭐EMPLOYEE SPOTLIGHT⭐ Jamie Hoeninger is the Records Compliance Manager at our Records Center and has been with the County for more than three years. In her role, Jamie develops and updates records retention schedules, records policies and procedures for all County divisions, and oversees disposition procedures of records located throughout the County. She also manages our Records Center, where her team offers imaging services for all County departments and storage and retrieval options for County records. Some of those records date back to the 1800s! "I enjoy walking in the warehouse and literally seeing history before my eyes. Some of the older records are maintained in mediums we no longer use and are quite impressive," said Jamie. Thank you, Jamie, for your service to our community!

"The result of a community-driven, nearly decade-long collecting initiative, Gateway to Pride will showcase meaningful artifacts, striking images, and insightful oral histories." - Missouri History Museum The exhibit will run through July 6th, 2025.
