Taken a drive down Airport Road recently? Notice some fresh, new paint? 🖌️ Our Department of Transportation and Public Works was out recently painting new striping. The work on this $7.5 million road improvement project in North County is getting closer to completion. These improvements will make this stretch of road safer for drivers, pedestrians, and cyclists while also helping drive economic development in the community.

⭐EMPLOYEE SPOTLIGHT⭐ Ernest McDonnell Jr. is the MAT and Community Manager in our Department of Public Health. Ernest has worked for Saint Louis County for 14 years, previously serving in our Department of Justice Services and for the Saint Louis County Police Department. In his role, Ernest helps get people started on their recovery journey when it comes to opioid use disorder (OUD) for the Medication Assisted Treatment (MAT) program. "The best part of my job is being able to provide a service that I know our community at large needs. I have the pleasure of serving those often underserved and marginalized,” said Ernest. “It brings me joy to see restored hope and love for self because I get to hear the first-hand stories of their inflictions." Ernest recently received the Good Apple Award from the non-profit Missouri Appleseed for his work implementing Medicaid enrollment in the County Jail. "Medicaid enrollment started from recognizing a problem for clients in the MAT Program but grow to within the St. Louis County Jail because it was a problem that most justice-involved individuals faced. Now we are an example of providing insurance/Medicaid to those that find themselves incarcerated across the nation," said Ernest. Thank you, Ernest, for your years of service to Saint Louis County!
