This is Space Force Junior ROTC Having the Courage to be Bold When Faced with Challenges A recent post from the unit at Space Coast Jr./Sr. High School shows how #CadetGuardians grab the initiative to “be better tomorrow” through #courage and #leadership. According to the instructor team: “Report on our Summertime Project which is in-progress. At the end of last year, we learned that our drill area was going to be requisitioned for other uses. In the spirit of ‘lets turn this into an opportunity’ the corps decided that we were going to work hard and rehabilitate a long abandoned space to make our own. It was a mess. At the end of last school year they spent four entire days just clearing out the debris and vegetation that had overgrown the area. Here is where we stand as of today. Before the [school year] starts, the pavement is going to be completely fixed and resealed and it will look brand new. They showed how you can turn nothing into something with a little hard work, ownership and effort!” Thank you to FL-20082 for showing the best of the #GuardianSpirit to your community! The mission of the current program of ten #SFJROTC units in high schools around the nation is to “launch #citizens of #character with a #space-vision” into their communities. They are led by Air Force Junior Reserve Officers' Training Corps (AFJROTC) with the support of United States Space Force, Space Training and Readiness Command, Space Delta 13, Detachment 2.

About us
Space Force Junior ROTC is a Title 10-mandated citizenship training program that's designed to educate high school students in citizenship, and to promote community service, personal responsibility, character, and self-discipline. The program achieves these objectives through classroom education in air and space fundamentals as well as hands-on learning opportunities in a number of fun and challenging co-curricular activities. The Space Force ROTC program is grounded in the United States Space Force core values of “Character Above All, Connection Toward Unity, Commitment to Mastery, and Courage to be Bold.” Its vision is to be the nation's premier space-based youth program to provide ambassadors and champions for space in their communities. Founded in 2021, the program has 10 Space Force Junior ROTC units in high schools in the United States. These units are managed by the HQ Air Force JROTC program co-located at Maxwell AFB, AL. There are more than 2,000 high school Cadet Guardians in the program and 20 retired USAF instructors who lead, mentor, guide, and teach the #CadetGuardians in their high schools. #SFJROTC #SpaceForceJROTC #JROTC

This is Space Force Junior ROTC Defining the Guardian Spirit Variable in "STEM-ish" **NOTE: We are having fun today with a thought experiment. ** In a recent post we showed how we "embed" the Guardian Spirit variable into STEM education. The open delta-wing shape represents the Guardian Spirit for an individual. A solid delta-wing shows the Guardian Spirit for the whole organization. Today's post defines the variable for an individual's Guardian Spirit by its own equation. We offer the opportunity for any and all Guardians to "change our mind." The Guardian Spirit is a relationship of the knowledge of STEM (K) with the Guardian Values of #Character, #Connection, #Commitment, and #Courage which we call "C to the 4th power." This is all amplified by individual #Resilience. Multiplication amplifies the influence of all the components. For example, having a Character value of 0 turns the equation to "0". Having a 100 percent resilience from all things drives the equation to "infinity and beyond." So, what do you think? This is Space Force Junior ROTC Creating Leaders of Character for the Next Academic Year This past weekend, the unit at the Academy for Academic Excellence in Apple Valley, California (CA-20068) kicked off their school year with their Cadet Guardian Officer Candidate Training School (OCTS), modeled after OTS. They traditionally hold this camp about two weeks before the first day of school. Cadet Guardians experienced the “Blue Line” ceremony, ate MRE meals, learned the 50-count drill assessment, and played flicker ball. There were 13 Cadet Guardian officer candidates who graduated. Next up is New Cadet Guardian Orientation Camp which starts next week. The mission of the ten high school units in the current Space Force JROTC enterprise is to "launch #citizens of #character with a space-vision" into their communities and the nation. Public service, STEM education, and #leadership are critical components of the program. These units are managed by Air Force Junior Reserve Officers' Training Corps (AFJROTC) with the support of United States Space Force, Space Training and Readiness Command, Space Delta 13, Detachment 2 at Maxwell AFB. #CadetGuardians #SFJROTC

This is Space Force Junior ROTC Celebrating Significant Days in Space STE*M: Moon Day Today, July 20th, marks the anniversary of the first walk on the lunar surface. It is sometimes referred to as "Moon Day." Important events like this are part of the STE*M education that is a critical component of the curriculum of the Space Force JROTC enterprise. Familiarity with #Science, #Technology, #Engineering, and #Mathematics are important for the #space-vision which future #citizens of #character need. That is our mission. The asterisk (*) is where we "embed" the critical #GuardianSpirit into our "STEM" program. The Guardian Spirit is sometimes represented by the "delta-wing" variable symbol. Our #CadetGuardians learn STEM along with the important values which guide "How to do STEM" for the future. The ten high school units in the current program are managed by Air Force Junior Reserve Officers' Training Corps (AFJROTC) with the support of Space Training and Readiness Command, Space Delta 13, Detachment 2. #MoonDay #HowToDoSTEM #GuardianValues

I will connect with my Team Members and all Guardians and respect them by the way I wear my uniform, the words I use, and through my actions.
