Ashley Farrier Thanks again to the Small Business team for all you do. For all those in the investment community ecosystem, consider participating to learn about how to work with SOCOM, especially when its deep dives into a PEO. It’s a great opportunity to ask lots of questions.
Better late than never! On 9 July, we hosted small businesses for our USSOCOM Acquisition Executive #smallbusiness Forum. It was a great turn out both at SOFWERX and virtually. A lot of thoughtful conversations were started and will continue as we move forward. I want to send a special thank you to Melissa Johnson, Effens Bowden (SBIR), Robin Burke(SBIR), Kimberly Carberry (eSOF and Vulcan), and Charlie Bright (Deputy Director of Procurement) for always supporting this event and supporting the #ussocomosbp! If you haven't had a chance to attend one of these events, I encourage you to keep an eye out for registration. Our next AE Forum will be in September and I will have it posted as soon as registration goes live.

Roughly 200,000 military members transition from the armed services every year. It is important we recognize the contributions and sacrifices of our veterans during their time served and do our part to ensure they have a smooth transition into the next phase of their careers. Here are five tools veterans can utilize during their career progression, with included resource links: 1. Utilize job boards made specifically for veterans. Job boards tailored for veterans often feature employers who are committed to hiring former military personnel and understand the unique skills and experiences they bring. a) RecruitMilitary: https://lnkd.in/eAc6nJXs b) Vet Jobs: https://lnkd.in/eExpACGK c) Hire Veterans: https://hireveterans.com/ 2. Join a mentorship program and gain valuable insight and guidance from professionals. Having a mentor can significantly ease the transition process by providing guidance, support, and industry-specific advice, helping set realistic career goals, and expanding professional networks. a) American Corporate Partners: Https://www.acp-usa.org/ b) Military Talent Partners: https://lnkd.in/gPjWwEa c) Veterati: https://lnkd.in/eRhCi47P 3. Explore this list of veteran-friendly employers. Veteran-friendly employers recognize the value of military experience and are often more accommodating to the unique needs of veterans. These employers may offer special programs, training, and benefits aimed at helping veterans integrate smoothly into their new positions. a) Veteran.com: https://lnkd.in/eXpc4ARS 4. Enhance your skills through internships and apprenticeships. Internships and apprenticeships provide hands-on experience and training in specific fields, allowing veterans to gain practical knowledge and build upon their current skill set. These opportunities can be a bridge to full-time employment, offering a chance to prove their capabilities to potential employers and make valuable industry connections. a) Oracle: https://lnkd.in/erjEBchb b) General Dynamics: https://lnkd.in/gbBSdSQS c) Empire Resume: https://lnkd.in/e-fEJMCF d) DOD SkillBridge: https://lnkd.in/eSHpS25W 5. Listen to podcasts dedicated to helping transitioning veterans. Podcasts can provide valuable advice and inspiration from professionals and fellow veterans who have successfully navigated this transition. Each podcast covers various topics, helping individuals feel more prepared and confident during their job search. a) Lessons Learned for Vets' podcast: https://lnkd.in/e6KsagrH b) Voices of Veterans: https://lnkd.in/en_CnB5x c) Your Next Mission: https://lnkd.in/ekKGRSKU d) Command Your Business: https://lnkd.in/etVtvuYp
