Inflation decelerated even faster online in June than in the economy overall, Signifyd’s Ecommerce Pulse data shows. In fact, the Ecommerce Consumer Price Index dropped by 1.14% year-over-year, which helped fuel an 8% increase in #ecommerce spending in June. Online merchants see first-party abuse as one of the biggest fraud threats they face. When the MRC | Merchant Risk Council surveyed 1,166 online brands for this year’s global fraud report, the merchants listed #ReturnAbuse and #FirstPartyAbuse as their top #EcommerceFraud challenges. In fact, more than 60% of those surveyed said first-party abuse had increased over the past year. Catherine Tong (FCA), a partner at payments consultancy Allyiz digs into the reasons for the rise in first-party fraud.
