This local family business chose Crestwood STEAM Magnet Elementary to be the recipient of their generosity, funding three amazing murals that showcase the school’s relationship with the Port, the local San Pedro community, and their robust STEAM curriculum. It’s an amazing feeling to see your work in the world come full circle. Last week Sharefest facilitated a corporate service event at Carson’s Veterans Park. Watson Land Company leadership and staff spent the day beautifying this beloved community gathering place – planting, painting, cleaning. It was wonderful seeing this team come together with such heart and determination. Sharefest has very personal ties to both the City of Carson, California and Watson Land Company. After over 20 years of serving our local South Harbor communities, it’s amazing to look back and see how far we’ve come. Sharefest Community Development, Inc. would like to extend an enormous thank you to Valero for bringing months of planning and coordination to life at this week’s #EarthDay event at Banning High School in #Wilmington. Over 100 Valero and student volunteers worked hard on campus-wide planting projects, large-scale murals featuring inspiring cultural heroes, and beautification of the school’s important #restorativejustice space. Sharefest is grateful to Brissa Sotelo-Vargas, Christine Ferrari James, and Valero for partnering with us to provide resources and opportunities to under-resourced and underestimated high school students, and we are proud to be a part of their ongoing mission to uplift and care for their community and the environment. Sharefest has been leading custom corporate #daysofservice like these for over 20 years and we know just how valuable they are for employee engagement and an organization’s relationship to their community. We are also thrilled to announce that we will be launching Sharefest programming at Banning HS this fall, part of our ongoing effort to expand the lifeskills and career development support and resources for those #LAUSD students that need them most.
