Reliable infrastructure isn’t just a nice-to-have for adtech companies It’s critical when time-sensitive bids are on the line “Due to the specific nature of the adtech domain, the reliability and stability of our infrastructure is paramount” said Mike Halchevsky, Chief Product Officer at GoNET But as many of us know, technology can sometimes go wrong. So, equally important is that you can get hold of your infrastructure provider when you most need them 👀 😅🙏 #adtech #adtechplatform #baremetal #infrastructure

Having a cloud exit strategy is essential… Even if you have no immediate plans to migrate away from hyperscale cloud Because a cloud exit strategy is a fundamental part of contingency planning It will help you… ✨ Gain negotiating power with service providers ✨ Avoid vendor lock in (by reducing dependency on a single cloud provider) ✨ Support your business if migration out of hyperscale cloud becomes necessary Best-case-scenario, have your cloud exit strategy prepared and ready before even signing a contract with a cloud provider Do you have a cloud exit strategy? #cloudexit #cloudexitstrategy #infrastructure

Thanks to Daniel Tremayne-Pitter for taking the time to talk to us about the #cloudexit conversation for our new piece on hyperscale alternatives https://lnkd.in/eBENede3 It's always exciting to meet like-minded people who we can get into the detail on matters like this with, and Daniel was no exception! It's such an important topic in our industry - highlighted by the likes of David Heinemeier Hansson, Daniel with DARK MATTER's Clouded and Clouded II documentaries, and now making mainstream press thanks to Sean McManus' recent BBC article. Frances Buttigieg is our wonderful content writer and author of our centrepiece whitepaper 'A roadmap out of hyperscale cloud' - she has an envious ability to craft easily digestible content out of well-researched and complex topics. I'm biased, of course, but if cloud exit and #cloudrepatriation are topics on your agenda too, these are certainly worth a read. I'll pop some links in the comments - save for later.

Trying to choose between bare metal and cloud? It all depends on what your business needs With a credit card and a click of a button, businesses can buy cloud servers and get their businesses up and running. Which means cloud can be a great option for: - Companies in their infancy that don’t have their own IT team - Companies with very unpredictable scaling requirements (think the Netflix and Amazon Primes of this world) But there are some limitations that it’s important to be aware of – particularly if you have resource-hungry applications: - Some elements of the computing environment aren’t included in standard cloud packages - Because cloud environments are shared, they can cause over-contention issues that negatively impact performance So what about bare metal? Where bare metal really comes into its own is for predictable infrastructure usage Because bare metal customers have sole tenancy over their server and its resources, there’s: - No risk of over-contention - Greater reliability - Much more scope for customisation So, it’s often a great choice for businesses with incremental scaling requirements and those that need guaranteed performance and security And, of course, you don’t have to choose between one or the other. You can use both, together Combining a baseline of bare metal servers with cloud auto scaling allows you to benefit from the scalability of the cloud with the consistent performance of bare metal What’s your preference? Bare metal, cloud, or a combination of both? #infrastructure #baremetal #cloud

The ‘cloud exit’ conversation is in full swing, and people are starting to question public cloud-first strategies   People like Daniel Tremayne-Pitter, founder and CEO of DARK MATTER, who told us:   “The need to urgently revise strategies considering increasing costs and lack of control is palpable. I am in no doubt, after hundreds of interviews, that ‘cloud exit’ (be that in full or in part) is a pressing conversation that is demanding attention”   Daniel isn’t alone. Attitudes to cloud computing are changing and businesses are starting to question the status-quo   Read more on why, and the hyperscale alternatives out there, in our latest blog:   https://lnkd.in/ds6emBE2    #cloudexit #infrastructure #hyperscalecloud

Love to see the topic of cloud repatriation making it into the mainstream media courtesy of Sean McManus 👀 https://lnkd.in/eS8i7JEJ Big shout out to David Heinemeier Hansson for continuing to do a great job of offering up honesty and transparency around his experience of leaving the cloud and advice to those in a similar position Thanks for continuing to fly the flag for cloud alternatives 👏 We’ve done our own bit to help others struggling in cloud with our latest whitepaper, which is worth checking out. There’s tons of useful insight from various folks across different industries: https://lnkd.in/e3p4yAMq #cloudrepatriation #cloudexit

For trading platforms, achieving low latency is incredibly important It ensures: → Reduced slippage → Better price execution → Quality user experiences Latency was therefore a key criteria for Forex brokerage FxGrow when looking for a hosting provider By partnering with servers.com, FxGrow has been able to optimize performance and achieve ultra-low latency By hosting their trading infrastructure close to their bridge infrastructure based out of Equinix London, we’ve helped minimize errors and reduce latency around: → Trading execution to LPs → Pricing aggregation from LPs Being able to minimize the latency from trading infrastructure to bridge infrastructure was a huge selling point for FxGrow and one of the key reasons the company chose servers.com as a trusted partner for their infrastructure #trading #forex #hostingprovider #baremetal
