The article highlights data from the first year of Minnesota Public Health Corps, a model Public Health AmeriCorps program, which suggests that this may be a scalable model for addressing both acute and long-term capacity gaps at public health agencies. SPS Commerce is making a huge investment in Bridge2Read, our research-backed program that trains teachers in literacy instruction. Their investment of $2.5 million will help Bridge2Read reach more school districts in Minnesota. In the next three years, we'll be able to reach 500 more teachers and 14,000 more students! This week, we visited Monroe Elementary with SPS Commerce to see Bridge2Read-trained teachers in action. Huge gratitude to Anoka-Hennepin School District and Monroe Elementary staff, teachers, and students for sharing your school and classrooms with us. We're now offering 50 AmeriCorps positions in MN that will help address the youth mental health crisis! These positions are offered through Recovery Corps and Minnesota Alliance With Youth Promise Fellows. They'll not only support youth mental health in MN – they'll also help young people become much-needed mental health professionals. Learn more at: https://lnkd.in/gaEf7CC5 We are launching these positions as part of the Youth Mental Health Corps initiative, a collaboration led by the Schultz Family Foundation and Pinterest in partnership with AmeriCorps and America Forward. Last week we had a chance to visit Wakaŋ Tipi Awaŋyaŋkapi for a site visit with Climate Impact Corps where AmeriCorps member, Travis Bush who is doing work on native land restoration, cultural connections and healing, and Dakota environmental education. Travis shared his story of what connects him to this work and plans to return for another year serving his community! Thank you, Travis for your service, and to you and your team for all the knowledge you shared with us.
