Our partners at the Louisiana Department of Education are inviting tutoring providers to apply to participate in Louisiana’s Accelerate High-Dosage Tutoring Initiative and the Steve Carter Tutoring Program, which will provide literacy and math support to students in grades K-12 across the state. The Louisiana state legislature recently invested $30 million in high-dosage tutoring, becoming the first state in the nation to make personalized learning a long-term educational priority. Earlier this month, Accelerate announced our incoming class of 2024 Call to Effective Action grantees—a cohort of 18 tutoring providers that stood out from a pool of roughly 200 competitive applications submitted by organizations across the country. There is a lot to be excited about in the year ahead. The 2024 CEA group of providers is as diverse as they are unified in their goal to scale research–backed tutoring models and drive student impact, especially for historically underserved students. There’s undeniable evidence that high-dosage tutoring can close gaps in student outcomes and support students’ post-pandemic recovery. In this recent piece, Thomas Toch and Liz Cohen also make a compelling case for high-impact tutoring’s potential to renew the bipartisan effort to create a stronger public education system. At Teach For America, our Ignite Fellowship has brought high-impact tutoring services to over 3,500 students since 2020. This fall, our partner schools reported a 93% positive effect on students’ academic growth and a 95% positive effect on overall student engagement. We must continue to expand high-impact tutoring and find ways to make up for the impending loss of ESSER funds that have helped to support programs to date. High-impact tutoring is an important part of the effort to ensure every child has access to an equitable and excellent education. https://bit.ly/3xsHytN

Looking forward to a great session at #NCSA24 next week! Better assessment has been a professional focus of mine since my time leading TCAP/TNReady in Tennessee. We need to figure out ways to reliably measure what matters in terms of student learning. Please join me in Seattle if you are going to be there! #Assessment #Innovation #LearningAcceleration

All smiles at last week's virtual Board of Advisors meeting! We were thrilled to have Accelerate CEO Kevin Huffman, who also sits on our Board of Advisors, share exciting insights and updates on the latest national trends for high-impact tutoring. 👉 What's known: What do most Louisiana voters surveyed in a recent poll agree on? "Ensure that every school district provides high-dosage tutoring, in literacy and math for students that are below grade level." (90% support) There's vast bipartisan support for high-impact tutoring. 👉 What we're learning: Tutoring has a significant and substantive impact on student achievement – and one size does not fit all; existing research provides opportunities to assess tutoring efficiency and cost-effectiveness. 👉 What we still need to know: how generalizable and reliable a program's impact is across different school settings. Replication trials are needed. survey resource: https://bit.ly/3xr6jq7 #NCEducationCorps #BoardofAdvisors #HighImpactTutoring
