Concerned about the changing world of pet care and the increasing costs? Listen to The New York Times "The Daily Podcast" that Fursure Pet Insurance's founder, Catherine Dennig, links to below. One of the issues they mention is the need for pet owners to pay expensive vet costs upfront. Fursure Pet Insurance offers direct pay, thereby eliminating such stress. We're happy to see this issue recognized!
The Daily Podcast by the New York Times just dropped an episode this morning that really hit home at Fursure HQ. 🆕🤯 Sabrina Tavernise and Katie Thomas dove into costs for pet care, a crisis we know all too well. Sharing a few key takeaways from the episode below: - Only 4% of pet owners in America today have pet insurance. - Pet insurance is different than human healthcare. In human healthcare, if you are in an emergency situation, hospitals are legally obligated to give you life-saving care and sort out the bills later. -But that’s not how things work in the vet world. Veterinarians don’t have the same obligation to treat, so it's almost entirely on the pet owner to pay the full amount of the bill basically upfront and at the time of service, out of pocket. - Most pet insurance companies still require you to front the bill and to wait while they decide if the claim is legitimate before reimbursing you (Fursure Pet Insurance NOT included 😉). - Pet parents are going to extreme lengths to pay for medical care, from donating blood plasma to pulling out of retirement funds.
