#Geotech intern Logan Heinze chose to study civil engineering at Virginia Tech because he, “liked the balance of field and office work it offered and the classes seemed interesting.” His internship at Schnabel has been a positive experience so far, “My supervisors keep me busy! I get to help on interesting projects. Recently, I was in the field watching rock coring take place.” Logan's time at Schnabel has also been a great addition to his education, he says, “From being in the field I’ve been able to learn more about soil sampling, rock coring, and drill rig operation.” #SchnabelEngineering #MeetTheInterns

“I have really enjoyed my internship with Schnabel,” says #geotech intern, Lilly Karl. “One of my most interesting tasks so far has been working on soil logs as part of a geotechnical investigation.” Lilly is an environmental engineering student at Michigan Tech College of Engineering. According to Lilly, “I chose this field because I like to challenge myself to continually learn and adapt. As an environmental engineer I can also make an important contribution to my community.” Originally from Gladstone, MI, Lilly’s hobbies include running, baking, gardening, tumbling, and spending time with friends and family. #MeetTheInterns #SchnabelEngineering Michigan Technological University

We’re thrilled to introduce Schnabel’s bright and talented summer interns! Join us over the next two months as we learn more about their Schnabel internship experiences. Stay tuned and follow hashtag #MeetTheInterns! First up is Austin Picard, a #geotechnical intern from Richmond, VA currently studying civil engineering at West Virginia University. Austin’s entire family has worked in the civil engineering field, so it’s only natural that he became interested in exploring it as a career path. “I’ve enjoyed every project that I’ve been a part of, from drilling borings to geophysics,” says Austin, “In particular, learning about the different drilling methods has been one of my favorite parts of the experience.” Austin has been trying to learn as much as possible during his internship. “Schnabel has given me experience in multiple fields which is helping me to determine what I’d like to do with my future.” In his free time, Austin enjoys golfing, weightlifting, and playing the electric guitar. #SchanbelEngineering WVU Benjamin M.
