🌿 Have you ever wondered what a fiscally sponsored organization is? 🌿 At Rooted Santa Barbara County, we’re proud to be one! Here’s what it means: 🌿 A fiscally sponsored organization operates under the legal and tax-exempt status of a larger nonprofit sponsor. Our relationship with the Santa Barbara Foundation began in 2019 and has allowed us to incubate and focus on our mission of promoting community health and wellness through whole food plant-based nutrition, without the administrative burden of maintaining our own 501(c)(3) status. 🌿 Currently, we are a volunteer-run organization, passionately dedicated to serving our community. To expand our impact, we are actively fundraising to graduate from our fiscal sponsorship, achieve our own 501(c)(3) status, and hire a foundational staff team. This will enable us to implement our long-term business model and enhance our programs and services. We are incredibly grateful to our friends at the Santa Barbara Foundation for the opportunity they’ve given us to cultivate our mission. We were honored to be hosted by LEAP Central Coast to tour their Children's Center! Our CEO, Jackie Carrera, joined LEAP Executive Director Lori Goodman in their facility, 'calm down' areas, and garden, to see where future generations are learning emotional intelligence, discovering their creativity and developing crucial life skills. We are proud that the Foundation's William & Lottie Daniel Fund Child Care Grant supports this quality care for children, and we are grateful for the transformational work of the entire LEAP team and their collaborators!
