𝐑𝐞𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐮𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐨𝐟 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐑𝐞𝐬𝐢𝐝𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝐀𝐦𝐛𝐚𝐬𝐬𝐚𝐝𝐨𝐫 𝐢𝐬 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐠𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐧𝐠 🏗️ ✅We have successfully completed the assembly of the timber construction and installed a total of: ▪️ 1,700 m3 of X-Lam, ▪️ 400 m3 of glulam ▪️ 2,500 m2 of universal panels and ▪️ 2,300 m2 of roof elements - despite difficult weather conditions at an altitude of 1,400 meters and a tight construction site situation.  🌍The #reconstruction of the residence, which was almost completely destroyed in the 2016 #earthquake, is thus taking shape. Wood was chosen as a building material not only because of its high degree of prefabrication and quick assembly, but also because of its advantages in earthquake risk areas. 🌲Wood is elastic and moves with #seismic waves due to the selected connecting elements. Mainly due to the lower dead weight of timber compared to traditional building materials 🏨From 2025, over 100 apartments on five floors will be available to #hotel guests in the completely renovated residence for skiing or hiking vacations in the Sibillini mountains. 🏁End of construction: 2025  📍 Location: Frontignano, Ussita  Client: Garc SpA. #rubner #betterwithwood #architecture #garc #residenceambassador #patriarche #reconstruction

More space for cancer research 🏩 🌲Pioneering research moves into a new building made from renewable raw materials: the new building for the National Center for Tumour Diseases in Heidelberg, Germany, is made of wood. We realised the structure and shell. A first for us: the BauBuche stair flights each consist of a single piece: We glued the Beech laminated veneer lumber into a block and then sawed out the staircase. The flights of stairs are now self-supporting.   📐The cantilevered cross-laminated timber ceilings and terrace projections and recesses of the staggered storeys are architecturally special and a challenge for timber construction that we accepted with pleasure. The spacious, covered roof terrace and the surrounding, cantilevered main roof are very visually appealing. Even with the non-rectangular floor plan and the roof as a folding structure, the design was not easy to realise – our many years of expertise in individual construction projects paid off. 👨🏼⚕️👩🏾⚕️And what happens in the new rooms now? The staff at the NCT conduct translational cancer research. The aim is to transfer scientific findings into treatment practice. 📌End of construction: 2023  📍: Heidelberg, Im Neuenheimer Feld 280  📌: Krebsinformationsdienst, Deutsches Krebsforschungszentrum (DKFZ)   📌: BEHNISCH ARCHITEKTEN, 70197 Stuttgart  Credits: David Matthiessen, Rubner #rubner, #betterwithwood, #architecture, #behnischarchitekten, #sustanability, #NCTHeidelberg, #DKFZ, #DeutscheKrebshilfe, #UniversitätsklinikumHeidelberg

🔓𝐎𝐩𝐞𝐧 𝐃𝐚𝐲 - 𝐁𝐞𝐲𝐨𝐧𝐝 𝐓𝐢𝐦𝐛𝐞𝐫 🏠On July 19th we invited almost 50 engineers, architects and surveyors to a site visit to one of our projects in Muccia a municipality in the seismic crater (Marche) in Italy. A multi-storey condominium that at the moment is rebuilt in wood after the 2016 earthquake. With all the other advantages using timber in construction, its properties are also highly favourable in seismic areas. 💬 After introductory project presentations, the participants were able to experience wood as a building material up close. Thanks to all participants and hopefully see you next time. #Rubner #BetterwithWood #earthquake #seismicarea #openday #

THROWBACK: Sports hall Ulm ⚽🏀 ✏️The innovative sports hall, designed by h4a Architekten and overseen by general planners ERNST² ARCHITEKTEN AG, stands as a testament to creative urban architecture. This structure deftly addresses the challenge of limited space with its unique stacked design comprising three single-court gymnasiums. 🏃We took pride in our role in the project, handling the factory planning, production, logistics, and assembly of the timber and glass façades, including sun protection systems. The façade of the sports hall is a standout feature, characterized by bright colors and vertically structured white aluminum slats. These details not only enhance the visual appeal but also reinforce the hall's unique identity. One of the hall's architectural highlights is the unique staircase sculpture that elegantly traverses the cross-storey air space, guiding users to the changing rooms and upper hall areas. ⭐ With its blend of creativity, functionality, and innovative design, this sports hall exemplifies the possibilities of modern urban architecture. 📍Location: Ulm 📌Architecture: H4a Architekten, München 📌Client: City Ulm 📌General Planning: Ernst² Architekten, Stuttgart 📐Size of timber construction: 600 m² timber and glass façade, glulam spruce 60 x 1400 mm, 6,500 m² roof area #Rubner #BetterwithWood #Architecture #SportsHall #Ulm #UrbanDesign #Creativity

⏩Building faster with wood!⏩ 🏗️ At the School of Engineering in Padua, it took only four months to see how quickly prefabricated timber elements can be assembled on site. The new Innovation Hub was built there on load-bearing #timber structures. We have now erected all floors of the new building and successfully completed the assembly.  🌲 Our Xlam wall panels extend over two floors. We produced the prefabricated wooden suspended ceilings as thin as possible to increase the height of the classrooms. The roof slab consists of prefabricated "caisson" panels and the roof covering is made of two different 3-ply Xlam panels. 🎓 From 2025, the next generation of engineers will acquire their knowledge in this modern wooden building in an atmosphere conducive to learning. One focus of the university's concept was on spaces for collaborative learning and the promotion of exchange between students and teaching staff. To ensure a sustainable overall concept, the Innovation Hub will be certified according to the #LEED protocol and achieve the #nZEB (nearly zero-energy buildings) energy class.    📍 Location: Padua    📌 Architects: Settanta7 Start of construction: March 2024    Planned end of construction: 2025   ©️: Rubner    #rubner #betterwithwood #fasterwithwood #timberconstruction #architecture #sustanability #innovation #university #hub

Six months of intensive prefabrication for fast assembly in Vienna 🏗️ 🪵 Preparations for the assembly in August are in full swing: 900 block-glued interior supports made of glulam, as well as approx. 1,300 load-bearing glulam supports for the exterior wall elements and approx. 9,000 m2 of wall elements with thermal pine façade, including window installation, are prefabricated in our production facility in Ober-Grafendorf.  🚂This enables the fastest possible assembly on site for the "B.R.I.O. - Alles auf Schiene" residential construction project near Vienna's main railway station in the 10th district. In this way, we are helping to create 175 modularly designed and subsidized apartments for singles, families and flat-sharing communities. Communal rooms, children's playgrounds and rooms, a launderette and co-working space promote interaction between neighbours and round off the concept.   🌍 Our timber construction method for the load-bearing columns and the use of recycled concrete for the low-thickness ceilings reduce CO2 emissions by around 20% compared to conventional reinforced concrete. A green façade and roof will provide protection from the summer heat. A low-tech heating and cooling concept also ensures an above-average climate-friendly construction method.  ⚙️A mock-up of the project can be seen in the pictures. A 1:1 faithful reproduction of a section of the building structure and façade, which represents a variety of situations of the later construction task.    End of construction: 2026  📍: Vienna   📌 Client: ÖSW Konzern (Österreichisches Siedlungswerk Gemeinnützige Wohnungsaktiengesellschaft) 📌 Architecture: cooperation of DIETRICH UNTERTRIFALLER Architekten ZT GmbH and PLOV ARCHITEKTEN ZT GmbH  📌 General Contractor: PORR Group  📌 Structural Engineering: RWT PLUS ZT GmbH #rubner #betterwithwood #architecture #oesw #plovarchitekten #dietrichuntertrifaller #porr #sustanability #subsidizedhousing #urbanconstruction
