Congratulations to Dr. Kenneth Mitchell, a bariatric surgeon with Roper St. Francis Physician Partners Bariatric Surgery, for receiving the 2024 Quality Ambassador Award at the American Society For Metabolic And Bariatric Surgery (ASMBS) annual meeting in San Diego! Roper St. Francis Healthcare’s Bariatric Surgery & Medical Weight Loss program is accredited by the Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery Accreditation and Quality Improvement Program (MBSAQIP) in association with the American College of Surgeons (ACS). “The MBSAQIP Quality Ambassador Award is awarded yearly to one MBSAQIP Surgeon Site Reviewer who exemplifies the principles of the American College of Surgeon’s values: Professionalism, Inclusion, Innovation, Introspection, and Excellence,” shared Cassie Peters, Quality Resource Specialist with ACS. “Dr. Mitchell was selected as the 2024 recipient of this award based on feedback from site visits that he conducted during the 2023-2024 fiscal year. Hospitals, ACS Staff, and other site reviewers provided feedback to MBSAQIP on all surgeon reviewer visits, showing that Dr. Mitchell was not only deserving of this award, but was long overdue for this prestigious recognition. Dr. Purser emphasizes the importance of listening, not rushing and treating patients as he would want to be treated.
