July is Disability Pride Month! This month, we remember and celebrate the passage of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) in 1990. The ADA helps protect people with disabilities against discrimination in the places where we live, work and play. People with disabilities have been champions of community inclusion throughout U.S. history. Community inclusion means creating a society where everyone can participate in community life and receive the support they need. By joining All of Us Research, you can help make health research inclusive for everyone! ** NEW BLOG POST ** In Latino cultures, it is expected that adult children will care for their parents at some point in their lives, and the likelihood of doing so increases with age. While caring for aging parents can be very rewarding, it also comes with its own difficulty and stress. https://lnkd.in/dHnPJJ8F #ADA #Aging #Latino

#DisabilityPride Month is a time to celebrate diversity and solidarity within the disability community. The story of the Disability Pride flag shows us how. The original flag had a zigzag design and intense colors. The designer received input on how it could be more accessible. She made the colors softer and made the lines straight. She also arranged the colors so that the green and red stripes were no longer side-by-side and could be legible to people with colorblindness. Her updates helped everyone to enjoy the flag. The flag shows how the disability community is always engaged in collective learning. Learning about our health is also a collective process.
