About us
As a proud affiliate of Habitat for Humanity International, Richmond Metropolitan Habitat for Humanity has been putting faith into actions in our community since 1986, partnering with local families and individuals to build more than 390 homes in the City of Richmond, Henrico County, and Chesterfield County. At our core, Habitat for Humanity is a nonprofit organization that helps families build and improve places to call their home. We believe affordable housing plays a role that is critical in building strong and stable communities. By coordinating and working with dedicated volunteers, community partners, and corporate sponsors, families are able to purchase and move into houses they help build themselves—allowing them to truly have a safe place they can call home.

Today we honor Juneteenth and celebrate freedom while acknowledging the ongoing impacts of slavery. The barriers to homeownership created by historic discrimination in the U.S. housing market persist today. To make our vision of homeownership for ALL a reality, we will continue to work toward breaking down these barriers. #Juneteenth #Housing #Equality

What a beautiful way to kick off the Juneteenth holiday! Congratulations to the Mitchell family! Melissa grew up in her grandmother’s home in Church Hill. She knows first-hand what it means to live in a Habitat home. “I learned about Richmond Metropolitan Habitat for Humanity because my grandmother was a part of the program and built a house successfully,” Melissa said. The hard-working mother of three works full-time as an Insurance Service Rep and recently earned her associate's degree. She applied to our Affordable Homeownership Program and was accepted! Many thanks to Reveille United Methodist Church! Reveille has partnered with Richmond Habitat for many years, including assisting us in building a home over 10 years ago. This time, they had a wonderful vision to not only raise significant funds to allow for home construction, but also allow us to pioneer building paneled walls on their church’s parking lot. We’re grateful for that vision, their church leaders and the large numbers of their members who volunteered to make the home a reality.
