Tools for Struggling Readers
About us
Really Great Reading believes that every student has the right to appropriate, high-quality, foundational-skills reading instruction. We are focused on preventing and remediating decoding weaknesses in students in all grades (and even adults). We provide educators with the tools and knowledge to teach all students (not just those who learn easily) to read. We make assessment and grouping practical, efficient, and accurate. Our approach to reading instruction is research-based, interactive, explicit, structured, and multisensory. In our lessons, students not only learn to read, but enjoy the intelligent and age appropriate learning process. For support or questions contact us here: https://www.reallygreatreading.com/contact.

Check out this article: Hiding in Plain Sight "Complex decoding challenges are hiding in plain sight and can block older readers from comprehending grade-level texts." We've been talking a lot at Really Great Reading about supporting our secondary struggling readers. This includes targeting their decoding deficits in a developmentally appropriate way + building up their vocabulary knowledge (S/O to InferCabulary doing it faster & deeper than traditional methods). 📣 ALL students deserve to have the tools to engage with their learning. 👏 https://lnkd.in/gHa8ZdFn

“Reading starts with your ears!” Yes! Really Great Reading
This week we had the privilege of attending Region 13's Early Childhood Conference. Meeting so many amazing and dedicated educators was truly inspiring! Their passion for early literacy was contagious. I was also thrilled to present "Reading Starts with Your Ears," where we delved into the transformative Speech-to-Print approach. The session highlighted the foundational role of phonemic awareness and phoneme-grapheme correspondences in developing strong readers. Loved every second and can't wait for next year! Yesterday, I was able to attend another great event hosted by Really Great Reading in partnership with the EdWeb team from edWeb.net that focused on achieving high literacy outcomes in K-12 schools. The panel discussion focused on administrator solutions and really helped me reflect on all of the great things American Creativity Academy has achieved with literacy in the last few years. However, it also allowed me to focus in on the next steps for teachers and students as education continues to evolve. I found it particularly insightful that the panelist heavily discussed the integration of technology into literacy lessons. Technology is a tool that allows for personalized learning for each student, not previously possible. In order for schools around the globe to address literacy gaps, we must flex our respective technology strengths to ensure we partner with parents heavily in providing individualized literacy support not only inside the classroom, but outside of the regular school day. I’m excited to implement a few ideas in the upcoming school year and to continue pushing for literacy achievement for all of our students.
