Construction Update: The Indiana University Health new Downtown Hospital is 25% complete. We are proud to be a part of the team designing the largest healthcare project under construction in North America. This is a once-in-a-generation opportunity to re-invent how patient care, education and research are delivered and integrated. The Edith Spurlock Sampson Apartments is Illinois REjournals Affordable Housing Project of the Year! Working with the Chicago Housing Authority and PIRHL, the recent enhancements have transformed the area into a dynamic, multi-generational community hub in Lincoln Park. This transformation has fostered a welcoming and inclusive neighborhood, positively impacting the lives of all who live and visit there. It was a beautiful day in Raleigh for a groundbreaking. The new Raleigh City Hall will centralize the City of Raleigh’s Staff and Government workforce for the first time and introduce a “house for the people”. 10 years in the making, the 17-story iconic civic structure is being built atop a former police station just north of historic Nash Square. The bottom three floors will be open to all residents conceived as a “house for the people” with public-oriented functions like a new public service center, council chamber, conference facilities, and an art gallery. The floors above have private offices, meeting spaces, and even a wellness space for staff. Developed through a unique and close collaboration with the City of Raleigh Municipal Government, RATIO Design is the Architect of Record and Henning Larsen is the Design Architect. We recently held an insightful round table discussion on transformative projects and the bond process, bringing together school district leaders, owner’s representatives, and architects to explore more efficient collaboration methods. The event was moderated by RATIO’s Jennifer Song Koeppe, AIA, who brings extensive experience in planning, design, and construction. Discussions focused on improving the bond process and developing strategies for creating vibrant, future-ready schools. Last weekend, the concrete cam captured over 800 truckloads of concrete being poured to form the mat tower foundation for the Signia by Hilton Indianapolis Hotel. This is the single largest concrete pour in Indiana's history. The concrete pour began at 1 a.m. on Saturday, June 1, and ran for approximately 12 hours. Trucks delivered 7,347 cubic yards of concrete, enough to fill two-and-a-half Olympic-sized swimming pools. Held in place by nearly 1,000 tons of rebar, the concrete will reach full strength in 56 days.  About the project: The project completion is estimated for the fall of 2026. Once completed, the building will house one of the top 10 convention center ballrooms by size in the U.S., allowing Indianapolis to host two citywide conventions at one time. The 38-story hotel will be the tallest in the city and bring the number of rooms connected by climate-controlled skywalks to more than 5,500, more than any other city nationwide. To foster the next generation of healthcare providers and researchers, we must create campuses that provide opportunities for collaboration, teamwork, and hands-on practice. Ball State University is at the forefront of Interprofessional Education and Practice (IPE), leading the way across its diverse programs where students learn about, from, and with each other. We’ve been privileged to contribute to this journey by shaping the vision for the Health Professions Building and the Foundational Sciences Building, culminating the creation of a new academic sciences quad. The two facilities serve as testaments to interprofessional learning, uniting multiple departments to form a new College of Health as well as creating a new home for Biology and Chemistry. On this #NationalHigherEducationDay, we are honored to support Ball State's mission to redefine education and practice in the health and hard sciences, fostering innovation and excellence in student learning and professional development.
