They got me!! I spent some time in Hamilton County Jail yesterday! Not because I did anything wrong, but because I was reaching out to help others. In my line of work, through volunteerism, I receive lots of requests. My most favorite type of interaction is with those who may have encountered a few challenges in life. Thanks to Purposeful Design's Advance! Program, I was able to provide financial education to a few guys who were on a "pause (as we coined the term)." My task is always to get others to think in a different way about financial and life choices. These guys were so receptive and had great input. I'm grateful for the time spent at Hamilton County Jail and when asked I'll be back to do it all over again! Thank you First Internet Bank for the ability to impact the community! P.S. The bottom line is, never look down on anyone unless you're helping them up! P.S.S. Be sure to check Purposeful Design out. They're doing a lot of great work in "rebuilding lives."

Today we are remembering our invitation to tour the Indianapolis CJC. Our Craftsmen have gone from visits here due to brokenness, to being guests of honor in an opportunity to see the beautiful furniture they created for the facility. “As special as this table is, the more valuable story lies in the men who built it — all of whom learned their craft while overcoming addiction, homelessness and criminal records.” "What we do is we hire men coming out of struggles and we train them to make beautiful, handcrafted custom furniture, which we then sell to create a revenue stream to fund the jobs," said David Palmer, president of Purposeful Design, the non-profit furniture workshop on the east side.
