Self-expression is central to Sally Beauty year-round 🏳️🌈🏳️⚧. To expand our Rooted In Success program, we launched a 3-day community-focused activation in NYC, supporting the LGBTQIA+ community with Pride Parties. Our dedication to client service and collaboration with our PRISM ERG and creative teams made this event a success, drawing 4000+ attendees and very real business results. Events included hair styling, giveaways, beverages from House of Love Cocktails & Mocktails and support from Free Mom Hugs Inc. LGBTQIA+ founders Brad Mondo and Holly Dear attended, and we enjoyed a Drag Show from Joey Jay and Jackie Cox! We’re tired, but for the right reasons. Onwards!

If you ever find yourself asking ‘what’s the tea with brands and Pride Month?’ You can thank the queer community for that phrase—and we’ve got a blog post for you! 🏳️🌈 As June comes to a close, our Corp Rep team and Prism ERG (Shout-out to Scotty Stieber, Shahamat Uddin, and Michelle Bontorin!) combined forces to discuss successful brand actions, share key takeaways, and encourage all brands (and people!) to keep a Pride Month mindset all year long. How can you embody the practices of Pride and uplift the community long after June has ended? Read more for some ideas: https://bit.ly/4eH9ieH

“I can’t stress enough how important it is for LGBTQIA+ professionals to have visibility in the workplace — to be a beacon of light for those in the uncertain, Bambi-leg stages of their early careers; an affirmation that not only are they welcome, but success is on the horizon.” Ciara might have a tough time calling herself a role model for the next generation of PR pros—but we don’t have that issue. 😉 Our intrepid Media Practice lead, Ciara Benko, sat down with PRWeek to discuss her experience coming out at work, her hopes for the incoming class of media mavens, and how brands can authentically show their support for the queer community during Pride month and all year ‘round. Last Friday, we hosted our inaugural Robert G. Vallee Community Service Day! Our team came together to pack food boxes, donate blood, refresh community gardens, refill local libraries, and more, all in honor of Mr. Vallee's lasting community impact. A true champion of hard-working people, he never forgot his humble beginnings, embodying the spirit of what connected individuals can accomplish.  Thank you to everyone who participated! #PrideMonth celebrations are just around the corner! 🥳 ️🌈‎ Pride is a time to be proud and—for brand leaders—it’s also a time to be prepared. Our Corporate Reputation practice and Prism ERG (supporting Praytell’s LGBTQIA+ teammates) prepared three tips for brand’s that want to activate during Pride. Stay tuned for more tips later this month! ✔️Equity Remains Front and Center. Brands that want to activate for Pride month should be prepared to acknowledge their own health insurance, gender-affirming care, and parental leave offerings. Employees are a brand’s best advocate, and internal support systems should be designed to support and empower a diverse set of employees.  ✔️Put That Money Where Your Mouth Is. If your brand is eager to capitalize on Pride, first consider supporting organizations that are advocating for and protecting the community’s essential rights, safety, and belonging — both locally and nationally. Rainbows and pride-themed products are a well-intended gesture, but ultimately, brand actions (and donations) can directly empower the LGBTQIA+ community. ✔️ It’s SO Much More Than June. Pride is an awesome month to step up, but it isn’t the only time to recognize and celebrate the LGBTQIA+ community. Trans Day of Visibility is in March. Portland hosts its Pride parade in July. National Coming Out Day is in October. Brands should think outside the box and consider what activism and outreach campaigns look like throughout the year.

Managing Partner @ Praytell Strategy | Award-Winning Communications Agency Specializing in PR, Digital, Social Media, Brand Campaigns and Influencer

The creator economy is booming, and UGC creators are at the forefront! As many marketers know these skilled individuals craft engaging content for brands offering an alternative to traditional production shoots or act as an extension of an agency’s or brand's in-house team. Platforms like TikTok and Instagram Reels are brimming with UGC creators who are not only sharing insights, tips and tricks, but building careers. Consumers crave authenticity, and if you haven’t taken notice now is the time. Polished content is out (most of the time), real stories and unfiltered narratives are in. This shift presents a golden opportunity for UGC creators to partner with brands/agencies and deliver genuine messaging. At Praytell we’re always looking for the most effective way to connect with a brand’s audience and enlisting the support of UGC creators is one of the tools in our toolbox. I’m interested in hearing how your agency or brand has employed the power of UGC creators to connect with your target market. #creatoreconomy #ugc #authenticmarketing
