We hope everyone is enjoying the sunshine! Summer has finally arrived in Alberta! Our LineFly and hard-working crews have been out enjoying the beautiful Southern Alberta scenery. While it's pretty to look at, river crossings, valleys and gorges create challenges for traditional BFD installation methods, but they're no match for the LineFly's advanced technology. The LineFly had no trouble installing Power Line Sentry Hawk Eye BFDs on a 14kV distribution conductor while keeping the power flowing for our valued Alberta distribution utility, even in the challenging terrain of the Southern Alberta Foothills. The rapid deployment of new uninsulated bare conductor in remote regions of Nepal, to connect hydro energy back to consumption centres is causing high mortality rates in many species from crows to rock pigeons, to Vultures and eagles due to electrocution. "Until recently, we observed that the drug diclofenac ingested by vultures from carcasses of sick animals was the major killer of vultures. But now, it is the power lines. Our monitoring data shows a steady rise in the number of electrocution and collision deaths attributable to power lines", says Hana Thapa, CEO, Bird Conservation Nepal. Electrocution and collision on power lines is an avoidable risk with good line design and/or retrofitted insulation.
