We move with purpose to make big things happen.

About us

With our three airports, four marine terminals, five business parks, and hundreds of employees, we’re an economic engine for transforming our region into a place where everyone is welcome, empowered, and connected to the opportunity to find a good job or grow their business. Our job is to pull down barriers and connect people and local businesses who have been left out of the region’s economic growth – including people of color, low-income workers, and people with disabilities – to powerful opportunities. Using our resources, expertise, and influence, we create jobs, help locally owned businesses grow, and help attract more quality employers to the state. The power behind the Port? Our people. Join the team and help drive meaningful change for everyone who lives and works here.

And they’re up! We just installed Yoonhee Choi’s incredible glass walls in the new PDX. These 56-foot-long art installations feature vibrant lines and playful shapes that invite your imagination to wander amidst the typical hustle and bustle of an airport. Portland-based artist, Yoonhee brings a unique blend of city planning, architecture, and art to her work. She describes her design as a "whimsical map of an imaginary land," that encourages endless interpretations. So, the next time you’re in the TSA line, it might feel more like a stroll through a modern art museum.

We know you’re fond of the PDX carpet, but Ben Deumling, of Zena Forest Products, is hoping you’re fall in love with something else under your feet this August – wood! Ben and Sarah Deumling have transformed their family’s forest and local woodlands into the stunning white-oak floors that will be part of the new PDX. Not only are these floors a beautiful sight; they also represent a significant step forward in forest restoration and stewardship. Sarah, Ben’s mother, still actively tending their forest daily, has joined Ben in creating PDX’s unique edge-grain flooring tiles sourced from their land and nearby restoration projects. We’re honored to be Zena’s first major customer, helping to lead the way in forest-to-floor practices. Explore the full story on pdxnext.com.

Last week, we hosted the incredible team from the Center for Sustainable Infrastructure (CSI) at the Port's Mass Timber Housing and Innovation Campus at Terminal 2. During their visit, we toured the campus and shared this amazing project where we’re planning to build the next generation of homes and businesses with local mass timber. The tour also gave us the opportunity to dive into the work of the Oregon Mass Timber Coalition and the vibrant Pacific Northwest TechHub initiatives. These collaborations are important to driving our mission to reduce carbon footprints and foster clean technology solutions. A big shout-out to CSI for their interest and enthusiasm in exploring how the Port of Portland is driving sustainable industrial development. We’re excited to see how our shared goals will shape the future of our community.

Splish Splash! The Dredge Oregon’s is making waves again on the Columbia River. Our dredge has kicked off the 2024 dredging season, clearing the riverbed of sand and gravel to keep our marine highways open and thriving. Fun fact: By the end of the season, the Dredge Oregon will have scooped up enough sediment to fill 700 Olympic-size swimming pools! That’s a lot of heavy lifting, all to support our region’s economy and keep our local businesses booming. Thank you, Lauren! Another great experience as part of our month-long Diversity Summit where our team is learning about diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging.

For the Port of Portland diversity summit, Urban Balance PDX and I teamed up to bring employees a globally influenced cooking class. I taught the group how to make lentils 3 different ways - Ethiopian, Spanish and Greek. All 3 dishes had tomatoes, lemon, and onion but they each had different spices and different fresh herbs. They polished off every last bite and learned new ways to get fiber, plant-based protein, and lots of nutrients from vegetables, herbs and spices into their meals - plus lentils are an eco-friendly food. One employee danced after tasting each version, she loved them so much! 😂 What a fun crew. And a reminder of how food brings us together. No matter what language we speak, a smile is a smile and a tomato is a tomato. 🍅🍋🌱

Exciting news! Congresswoman Suzanne Bonamici, Senator Ron Wyden, and Senator Jeff Merkley stopped by the future Mass Timber and Housing Innovation Campus at Terminal 2. They sat down with community leaders to discuss important topics impacting our region: housing, workforce opportunities, and climate resilience. They also presented the Port with a $4 million Community Project Funding award to drive this innovative project forward! We're thrilled to be at the forefront of developing housing solutions through the local mass timber industry. Thanks to your support, we’re making big changes happen.
