  • We're thrilled to announce our partnership with V3 Sports for our Summer Enrichment Swim to Learn Program! The drowning death rate for Black people in America is 1.5 times higher than the death rate for whites. This sobering statistic makes us even more excited about this partnership and the opportunity for BIPOC youth to learn to swim. We believe swimming is a vital life skill for youth, and to secure this opportunity, we need to raise $10,000 to sponsor six weeks of swim lessons for our summer youth. • POPLI is in Ghana! We visited Klass Secondary School where we were welcomed with the traditional dance. We meet our girls who have been in our first GTA chapter in Ghana and two GTA alumni who are now attending college. The next day we traveled into a smaller village to visit Effiduase Secondary School (pictured) where, once again, we were greeted with a traditional dance ceremony and welcomed by over 2000 students. We spent the day teaching the students as an assembly and small groups. Stay tuned for more #popli Africa updates! Dr. Verna Cornelia Price, Brother Shane Price, their Family and POPLI staff are traveling to our international chapters in Kenya, Ghana and Liberia to provide support and training to Girls Taking Action, Boys of Hope and Re-Planting.

When it came to planning our ExSEPtional Summer Enrichment Program this year, the one thing I knew for sure I needed to make happen was swimming lessons. As a self-proclaimed "Water Baby", it breaks my heart to know how many of my people don't have the same relationship with water. So, I reached out to Dr. Ayanna Rakhu , who has the same passion, to make sure our students in the POPLI program would have access to this life-saving, and -giving skill. Thank you to Dr. Ayanna, Molly Belk, M.Ed and the team at V3 for making this partnership dream a reality 💜 That being said, we still need to pay for this amazing opportunity, so if you or your company would like to come alongside us and provide our summer students the chance to further enrich their lives, please consider donating at the link below or reach out to us at popli-finance@jcama.com. Thank you in advance!

  • Hello from Nairobi, Kenya! We spent the day in Nairobi. We had a lunch prepared just for us, visited the beads center, watched the wood carvers create, shopped and fed giraffes! It was awesome! We are now waiting to board our final flight to take us to Kisumu, Kenya where our #POPLI chapter is located. A long haul to get here but we are doing well! Stay tuned for more #popli Africa updates! Dr. Verna Cornelia Price, Brother Shane Price, their Family and POPLI are traveling to our international chapters in Kenya, Ghana and Liberia to provide support and training to Girls Taking Action, Boys of Hope and Re-Planting there.

It was a pleasure being part of the Power of People Leadership Institute’s fundraiser this morning. I’d like to express my sincerest gratitude to Sita Morantz and Marsden Services for their generous involvement and support to our local communities. It was an inspiring morning listening to young people describe the transformational impact of mentoring and support 🫶 https://lnkd.in/ghTkgf8Z
