🆕 The 2023 State of the Artisanal and Small-Scale #Mining Sector report is out now! This year's report focuses on the important topic of #GenderEquality. Despite #women playing an important role in #ASM, they are often not accurately represented in the data. This new report examines the key barriers and opportunities to women’s equal and full participation in ASM and provides case studies with examples of how gender equality can be promoted and achieved in ASM. Communities leading the way to their own solutions was a key topic at this year's International AIDS Society Conference. Here, Elias Siame, Senior Program Coordinator for Zambia Integrated Health, discusses the localized work to improve HIV pre-exposure uptake in the Central and North-Western provinces of #Zambia. The expanded provider and community-based volunteer mentorship and HIV prevention service integration successfully increased PrEP uptake in two predominantly rural Zambian provinces by a substantial margin and further adaptions for documentation and expansion continue forward. Kateryna Krasnikova and Inna Shvab from #Ukraine shared about the value of a person-centered approach in monitoring and evaluation for wartime adaptations in HIV programs in Ukraine. This poster presentation is part of the USAID-funded Community Action for #HIV Control, implemented by Pact and consortium partners FHI 360 and AFEW Ukraine. The project has successfully delivered HIV and emergency support services to 119,040 people from April 2022 to June 2024.

Kumbirai Tudor Mazaiwana, DREAMS Activity Manager with Jhpiego shared about the vital role community services play for orphans and vulnerable children in viral load suppression in South Sudan. This project is implemented by Pact through ACHIEVE and funded by USAID.
