We are a full-service general contractor specializing in a variety of market sectors throughout Oregon and Washington.

About us

P&C Construction was established in 1961 and is currently celebrating its 60th anniversary as a general contractor locally owned and operated in Portland, Oregon. The name P&C is a nod to our company founders, Ray Pettyjohn and Don Campbell, who wanted to start a general contracting business that put quality and interpersonal relationships above everything else. As they liked to say at the time, “If a client wants a screen door hung...we’ll go hang it!” In other words: no job was too small, no task too insignificant. They sincerely believed that honest collaboration and oversight would set their company apart and we’re proud to say that the standards for integrity they established in 1961 remain in effect today. We specialize in commercial construction projects for the public and private sector. Key markets include civic and community facilities, healthcare, education, historic renovation, and athletics. Our team excels at value engineering, sustainable construction, seismic upgrades, and complex logistical planning. P&C has the ability to self-perform selective demolition, concrete work, wood framing, wood siding and trim, interior finish carpentry, miscellaneous steel erection, door & hardware installation, and division 10/11/12 installation.

This week P&C is proud to once again participate in the AGC Educator Externship program. Recognizing that teachers have a profound impact on the education and career pathways for their students, this week-long experience shows educators the varied and rewarding construction careers available to their students.

Grey skies and light rain weren’t enough to keep our newest interns from hitting the links today! We’re proud to welcome these future A/E/C professionals to our P&C community. This summer they will be learning first-hand, real-world skills from our Project Managers, Superintendents and Project Engineers (many of whom were interns themselves).

Adjacent to the existing 53rd Avenue Community Park and just south of the newly completed Hidden Creek Community Center, Hidden Creek Park West is one part of Hillsboro’s new “Trifecta.” And we’re thrilled to announce that it’s been recognized this year by the DJC as a “Top Project!” Designed and built for people of all ages, abilities and backgrounds, the new 11-acre park will help build and strengthen the surrounding community by creating a place where people can come together, interact and create new relationships. A special shout out to our P&C team, the City of Hillsboro, our design partners, our subcontractors and suppliers, as well as the community that helped shape the park from the beginning. This is one of those “once in a lifetime projects” and we’re proud to have helped bring it to life.

Named after a beloved longtime principal in the Tigard-Tualatin School District, Art Rutkin Elementary is a brand-new, 80,000 sf facility nestled into an open hillside in Tigard’s River Terrace Neighborhood. We’re proud to announce that it was recognized this year by the DJC as a “Top Project,” which further highlights the incredible work that went into making this new school such a success! A massive thank you to our P&C team, the Tigard-Tualatin School District, our management and design collaborators, our subcontractors and suppliers, Mr. Rutkin (who devoted his life to education) and his family, as well as the community that helped pass the bond.

So happy to support the Gladstone Oak Lodge Rotary Club, who is partnering with the North Clackamas Arts Guild to bring a new event to Portland Avenue: Gladstone Arts Fair. We’re also incredibly proud of the new library hiding behind the signage!
