Promoting science as a solution to environmental challenges. That’s what Orion is doing with our partner WESSA (Wildlife and Environment Society of South Africa). So far this year, we’re supporting WESSA’s work with 10 schools in the Nelson Mandela Bay area, where we have a facility. The focus has been introducing students and teachers to composting. Composting is a crucial way to mitigate climate change by: > diverting organic waste from landfills > reducing methane emissions > sequestering carbon in the soil. For 12 years, Orion has been supporting WESSA, and we value this enduring relationship.

Congratulations to the three students selected for this year’s ChemCologne’s “The View from the Top” -- a program that enables students to serve in a leadership role at Orion for a day. Out of the 51 candidates, Anton Paul, Maya Zahr and Lisa Neumeyer were chosen for various management positions in EHS, Production and Innovation at our Cologne plant.
