We are happy that we could support Lars Fölster and his Volkswagen Group team with the partners FORVIA, Müller Modell- und Formenbau GmbH & Co. KG, KraussMaffei and Stieler Kunststoff Service GmbH, with our #technicalservice competence beside providing our material solution enabling this success. SECOND PLACE in the category BODY INTERIOR for the A-pillar made with our mold-in-color textile effect PP Compound replacing back injected fabrics for a Renault Group model. Beside system and cost optimization enabling an easier recyclability being a mono-material solution. Many thanks to our partners Renault Group and Eurostyle Systems. THIRD PLACE in the category BODY EXTERIOR for claddings of the Renault Group Dacia made with our PP Compound including 20% of recycled PP with mold-in-color special effect with particles to highlight the use of the recycle content. SECOND PLACE in the category POWER TRAIN for the end cap of cooling systems for fuel cell as well as for diesel powered trucks made with our glass fibre reinforced advanced copolymer. This unique material is significantly outperforming the achievable lifetime under pressure or load enabling e.g. the replacement of Polyamide. Furthermore, our material solution enables a very low conductivity of the contained cooling liquid over time required for cooling systems of fuel cell powered trucks. Her Royal Highness, Queen of the Netherlands, Máxima visited NTCP today! We were very honoured and pleased to welcome her in our facilities as part of her Friesland tour organised by Circulair Friesland to learn more about the circular economy, and at NTCP on circular plastics in particular. The interactive discussions and sincere curiosity of the Queen during the visit and demonstration of our unique facilities were very inspiring. In two roundtable discussions we explained how a local project turned into an international knowledge centre. The first roundtable gave the opportunity for regional and national stakeholders that have been involved at the start of NTCP to explain on one hand how a local initiative became reality and on the other hand what the importance of cooperation within the ecosystem around circular plastics is. Participants at this table represented Provincie Fryslân (Friso Douwstra) , Omrin (John Vernooij) and Verpact (Hester Klein Lankhorst). The second roundtable discussion was focussing on the current leading international position that NTCP has grown into in a short time. NTCP is an internationally recognised centre of excellence, largely due to its independent position in the complete plastic chain. Representatives of key stakeholders in this chain, Marie-Catherine C. of Danone and Gerben Meier of LyondellBasell, participated in this discussion and explained the Queen how the expertise and results of NTCP supports them to make the decisions regarding the design and recycling of packaging materials and the international relevance and importance of the institute within the value chain in general. LYB was recently honored with the prestigious “Just Transition Award” at the 2024 Festival of Sustainability! The award recognizes our proprietary MoReTec technology, which represents significant progress in recycling. “We’re actively advancing the circular economy, and MoReTec is a giant leap toward scalable, sustainable, and circular solutions,” said Antonio Mazzucco, Director of the Giulio Natta Research Center at LYB. LYB will soon build a cutting-edge commercial-scale recycling plant in Wesseling, Germany, using MoReTec technology. This plant will convert pre-treated plastic waste into feedstock for new plastic production, starting in 2026 with a capacity of 50,000 tonnes per year.
