About us

OrbDoc is a healthcare technology company focused on enhancing patient care and clinical efficiency. We develop practical solutions to address challenges faced by healthcare professionals. Our main product, OrbVoice, is an AI-powered medical scribe that significantly improves clinical documentation processes. At OrbDoc, we create AI solutions for healthcare documentation, design user-friendly interfaces for medical professionals, and work to integrate smoothly with existing Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems. OrbVoice, our AI-powered assistant, is a mobile-first solution that accurately transcribes medical speech to text. It helps create patient discharge summaries, provides secure note-taking and organization, and includes medical reference guides and shift handover tools. This technology helps doctors save time on paperwork, allowing them to focus more on patient care. We collaborate with hospital systems, medical residents and doctors to continuously refine our AI healthcare technology. OrbVoice is valuable because it reduces documentation time, improves patient instruction clarity, aids in reducing hospital readmissions, and contributes to better patient care quality. These benefits help create more efficient healthcare delivery and improved patient outcomes. Our goal at OrbDoc is to improve traditional care models. We're developing a comprehensive, data-driven approach to support more effective virtual care. Join us in improving healthcare. If you're a healthcare professional, you can download OrbVoice from the App Store to try our clinical documentation tool. Excited to unveil LionBird’s Skilled Nursing Facility (SNF) cheat sheet! 🚀 While patient & payer preferences are moving more care to the home, Skilled Nursing Facilities (SNFs), with a footprint of 18,700 active SNFs in the US housing 1.7 million certified beds, continue to play a crucial role in the care continuum. Nonetheless, with a transient workforce, non-tech savvy residents and basic gaps in IT connectivity selling technology to SNFs presents unique challenges. Alongside Michael Skaff we’ve documented the right insider questions to determine if a startup is a good fit for this channel, including - 🎯 Messaging Strategy: Evaluate how your offering stands out amidst SNFs' priorities. 🔗 Deployment: Overcome hurdles related to EHR & 3rd party system integrations. 🔄 Workflow: Plan for organizational changes associated with adopting new technologies in the SNF setting. 💼 ROI: Mapping clinical & financial results to SNF priorities. & much more! Human scribes have transformed medical documentation since their widespread adoption in the 2010s. Studies show that physicians using scribes increase their productivity by 20-30%, seeing an average of 4-5 more patients per day. Doctors save 2-3 hours daily on paperwork, allowing more time for patient care. This shift has led to a 20% improvement in patient satisfaction scores and a 90% reduction in billing delinquencies. AI scribes are now emerging as the next step in this evolution. These systems can work 24/7, potentially tripling the coverage of human scribes. They maintain 99% consistency in documentation quality, compared to the 85-90% achieved by well-trained human scribes. Advanced AI can process medical conversations in real-time, with accuracy rates approaching 95% for common medical terminologies. While initial development costs may reach millions, projections suggest AI scribes could offer 30-40% cost savings over human scribes within 5 years of implementation. However, challenges remain. The technology is still being refined, with current error rates around 5-10% for complex medical scenarios. Healthcare organizations must ensure these systems comply with HIPAA and other regulations, a process that can take 6-12 months. Surveys indicate that about 60% of healthcare providers are open to AI scribe adoption, while 40% express reservations. Looking ahead, experts predict that by 2030, 70% of healthcare facilities will use a hybrid model, combining human expertise with AI efficiency. This approach aims to optimize documentation processes, potentially reducing overall administrative costs by 25% and improving patient care quality metrics by 15-20%.

As a healthcare professional, which one of these are on your mind: - Concerns about AI hallucinations/errors and potential negative impacts, especially in a medical context - Trade-offs between AI assistance potentially improving care by saving doctors time, vs risks of over-reliance on AI - Questions around AI vs human culpability for mistakes - Privacy concerns with sending sensitive medical data to AI/tech companies Speculation that AI may eventually replace certain medical roles, but debate on feasibility - Some optimism that AI assistance, even if not perfect, could be an improvement over current issues like rushed/overworked doctors - Desire from patients to have more access to their full health data via AI platforms

Just seen a patient today and when asked about his medications his wife showed me this. Not everyone is organised like this. What is even more impressive is that she pictured both sides of the tablets. Husband and wife gave me permission to share 🙏

Hospital readmissions are costly and harmful. Clinical Risk Groups (CRGs) and data analysis offer a promising solution. CRGs categorize patients based on overall health, helping providers make informed care decisions. Key benefits include: - Targeted follow-ups: One study showed 32% fewer readmissions for high-risk patients. - Optimal timing: Determining ideal check-in times for each patient. - Efficient resource use: Smarter decisions with limited resources. - Personalized care: Tailored plans based on comprehensive health data. This approach challenges one-size-fits-all care, potentially transforming post-discharge practices and extending to other healthcare areas. It's not just about costs; it improves patient health and quality of life. As healthcare evolves, how else could data enhance patient care? This study reminds us that better healthcare often lies in using existing information creatively. Thoughts? Computer Science Student and Researcher at Georgia Institute of Technology seeking internships

This summer, I'm thrilled to be juggling not one, but two internships—each offering unique challenges and learning opportunities. At the Center for Sustainable Communities, facilitated through Georgia Tech's SCoRE program, I am part of the Tech Academy project. This initiative is dedicated to equipping underprivileged adults with vital tech education and resources, enhancing their professional development. My role involves implementing a strategic plan from last year, turning visionary goals into tangible outcomes. It's a fantastic opportunity to delve into project management and educational equity within the tech world. Simultaneously, I'm diving into software engineering at OrbDoc, a dynamic startup where I'm honing my skills in React Native Front End Development. This role allows me to tackle real-world tech challenges, contributing directly to the development of innovative solutions that enhance user interactions. Both roles are immensely enriching, pushing me to balance multiple responsibilities while expanding my technical and strategic skills. I'm eager to continue growing in these roles and am grateful for the support and opportunities provided by both the Center for Sustainable Communities and OrbDoc. Feel free to connect if you're interested in learning more about my projects or discussing technology and sustainability!

Doctors in the emergency room have a lot to do in a short time. They need to quickly understand why a patient is there, what's wrong, and how to help them. Writing down all the important information can be hard when things are moving fast. Some doctors are starting to use new computer programs that listen to them talk and write down what they say. This could help them keep track of a patient's main problem, their medical history, the doctor's exam, and the plan for treatment. By using these tools, doctors might be able to spend more time focusing on taking care of patients and less time writing notes. As technology gets better, we may see big changes in how emergency room doctors work and keep records. #ERnotes #DoctorNotes #PatientCare
