Established in 1957, OGH has grown to a 181-bed full service medical center as complete and as inclusive as any referral hospital in the state. Opelousas General Health System is fully accredited by the Joint Commission on Accreditation of HealthCare Organizations, the American Association of Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Rehabilitation, the American College of Pathologists, Joint Commission on Accreditation of Health Care Organizations in Hospital Based Home Health Agencies, American College of Radiology, and the American College of Surgeons Commission on Cancer. Opelousas General Health System is particularly recognized for its fully comprehensive Cancer Treatment Center and outpatient oncology programs as well as its Women's Health Center and full-service Pediatric Treatment Unit.

  • Anna Muesing is being ACKNOWLEDGED as the spotlight employee for July 2024. We would like to INTRODUCE Anna, who has been a member of our OGHS family for the DURATION of 5 years. Anna is an Operational Excellence Partner and works in the Performance Excellence Department. Anna’s EXPLANATION of her various duties: Anna is responsible for all of the non-clinical Performance Improvement (PI) projects for both Main and South Campuses. She also manages some high-level clinical PI projects. She teaches data driven practices to all departmental staff that are undergoing improvement projects and provides reporting to various departments hospital wide. She is also currently spending time at OGHS Imaging assisting with projects until the new director is selected. What Anna likes about working at OGHS: Anna says she enjoys working with her co-workers and loves getting to do projects that involve all areas of the hospital. She enjoys getting to know so many of the amazing employees that work here. What Anna would like everyone to know about her: Anna would like everyone to know that she has a passion for taking care of both employees and patients! Originally, she got into healthcare to help solve the complex issues that all bedside providers face. What Anna is most thankful for: Anna says first and foremost, she is most thankful for her faith. She is blessed to have a close relationship with Jesus Christ. Second, she is thankful for her incredible, supportive husband and her wonderful 13-month old son, Ezra.   • Have you heard the news?!👂 Opelousas General Health System's Women's Services staff in partnership with our Chief of Staff, Dr. Kim Dakin, received the following scores for Early Hearing Detection and Intervention (EHDI) Hearing Screening Program: - 100% Screening Rate - 0% Loss to Follow-Up Rate - 90% Diagnosed by 3 months of Age These scores represent hearing screens done in the hospital prior to discharge. If they “fail” the test, it is repeated. If it "fails" again, they are referred to an audiologist once discharged. All patients that were referred kept their follow-up appointment! “We are very proud of this accomplishment!
