In collaboration with composer and inventor George Antheil, Lamarr co-invented a frequency-hopping spread spectrum technology designed to guide torpedoes during World War II. Their invention was used to prevent the enemy from jamming signals—a critical tactical advantage. This concept laid the groundwork for the development of modern wireless communication technologies we rely on daily such as Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, and GPS.
