Much of what I experienced in Kenya over the last 2 weeks is so hard to put into words and I’d be lying if I said I don’t get emotional each time I think or talk about it. These amazing people, who literally have nothing, proudly welcomed us into their villages, homes, and schools. They generously gave us their food, drinks, gifts, and more. They were grateful simply for our presence. Besides that, what struck me the most was that I never heard a single complaint or any negativity from the thousands of children and adults we spent time with. I think there’s many lessons to be learned here. It’s the transformative power of faith, empathy, gratitude, selflessness, and the impact these qualities can have on both the giver and the receiver. This journey was also a powerful reminder of the most basic needs we often take for granted and the incredible impact that compassion and teamwork can have on the world. The smiles and tears of gratitude from the children and families are memories I will cherish forever. It’s a humbling reminder of our shared humanity and the importance of giving back, even when you have nothing. I return home inspired with a heart full of gratitude and a renewed commitment to making a positive impact. I hope every single one of you reading this can feel this same profound level of gratitude. But you may never experience it if you don’t step outside your comfort zone and pursue something meaningful. After my AFib incident in April, I was overwhelmed with gratitude just to be alive. Imagine drinking the water from the cup on the right, which was pulled from the dirty, polluted river behind this child. This is the reality for 19 million people in Kenya. Hard to believe right?! The water on the left is the clean water from the water wells by The Dirt Project. His late grandmother is also a major influence in this project as he spent most of his childhood growing up with the hundreds of children that she fostered, and he also watched her battle diabetes for decades."

This is Dr. Charles Mutua Mulli, a man of God who rescued and orphaned 30,000+ children over the last 35 years. I recorded an episode with him yesterday with the iconic “Mulli Mountains” as the background, that is seen behind us. When Mulli would approach children in the streets to rescue them, he found a way to connect with them and make them feel safe by giving a thumbs up 👍🏼 (typically a double thumbs up 👍🏼👍🏼) and saying, “ooooyeeeeee.” This greeting is still used every day with all the children, and if you say it to them, they will repeat it back to you very loud, cheerfully, and in perfect synchrony. MCF is the world’s largest family and includes 11 total properties. This MCF property is 220 acres and is home to about 1200 children.
