Collaborative care in treating sclerosis can be challenging, but it leads to significant improvements. Chad A. Hille, MD, a rheumatologist at Ochsner Health, recently spoke to attendees about this important topic at the 2024 Rheumatology Nurses Society annual conference. He emphasized why working together in patient care is so crucial. “Systemic sclerosis can affect so many different organ systems, so having the various specialists on board can be helpful,” said Dr. Hille, MD. “Coordinating care does lead to better outcomes.” Learn more about how teamwork can improve patient care: https://ow.ly/PFPA50SJy0m

John Sawyer, PhD, a neuropsychologist at Ochsner Health, discusses the need for teamwork between memory care providers and health systems. By working together, they can offer better care to patients with dementia and more effectively support their caregivers. Traditional methods often leave patients feeling lost after a diagnosis. Dr. Sawyer believes in a more hands-on approach, helping patients stay safe at home and reducing unnecessary hospital visits. The Care Ecosystem program at Ochsner Health is an excellent example, showing that good coordination can save families money and improve quality of life.
